Lectures will focus on the history of minority groups, as well as around the analysis of the data on the structure of national and ethnic Polish of the last two censuses (2002 and 2011). Practical, training hours are devoted to issues of political, economic and cultural and ethnic minorities in Poland. Prerequisites Knowledge Skills Courses completed K1 Have a basic knowledge of the history of national and ethnic minorities in the Polish lands and Poland. K2 Knows the elementary social and cultural problems of national and ethnic minorities in Poland and the Polish lands throughout history. K3 Knows the terminology necessary to discuss issues of national and ethnic minorities in the Polish lands and Poland. S1 Can list and describe all national and ethnic minorities living in Poland, especially in the contet of the data from the National Census of Population and Housing S2 Is able to find and use scientific sources to develop answers to the problems of national and ethnic minorities in Poland. S3 Analyzes the reasons for the course of specific processes and social phenomena associated with the presence of national and ethnic minorities in Poland. C1 Presents afterthought during evaluation of historical events. C2 Presents and creates an attitude of tolerance and responsibility towards minority groups. Each student is required to give an oral presentation on a particular aspect of the chosen armed conflict. The presentation should be no more than 20 minutes each. Class attendance is required and assessed. Coming late is not permitted without a proper justification. In case of absence a summary of the reading should be sent before the net class. Students will be acquainted with the subject and will take an active part in the activities (work on the tet and tasks relating to interpersonal communication as well as presentations). The role of the teacher consists of introduction to the subject, asking questions, supervising students individual and collective work, verification of information, commenting, provoking discussion. Valid active participation in class is required, absences should be made up for individually with the teacher. Students are encouraged to read at least one item in the bibliography, about verbal and nonverbal communication, and to verify the knowledge acquired in the eercise in practice - in everyday life. Assessment methods: Assessment criteria Students get a pass for attending classes, active participation and making a presentation. Comments Course content (topic list) 1.
