By staying enrolled in UNILERT, university officials can quickly pass on safety- related information, regardless of your location. 1.0 Course Overview and description: Introduction to Euclidean geometry. Topics will include an introduction to logic, properties of parallel lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, and measurement. Similarity and proportionality will also be addressed. Topics will include logic, properties of circles and transformations, projective and non- Euclidean geometry. Technology will be included when appropriate. 2.0 Student outcomes: a) Apply logic concepts to develop truth table proofs to determine valid forms of reasoning and logically equivalent statements; b) develop properties of triangles, quadrilaterals, and circles inductively; c) apply properties of parallel lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, similarity, and
2 proportionality; d) use measurement concepts of perimeter/circumference, area, surface area, and volume in applications; e) develop properties of transformations inductively, write rules for transformations, and connect Euclidean geometry properties to coordinate geometry proofs; f) apply properties of projective geometry including scale factor, center of dilation, similarity and proportion; g)construct deductive proofs; and h) compare and contrast the properties of non- Euclidean geometries (spherical and hyperbolic) to Euclidean geometry. 4.0 Course Requirements: Homework: Homework will be assigned using mymathlab and the due date will be provided with the assignment. NO Late homework will be accepted. Tests: All tests will be online on mymathlab. Questions will be similar to those on the homework assignments. Online discussions: One online discussions will be posted. Students are expected to respond to the discussion in no less than 20 sentences. No text- speak. Your discussion must reflect traditional grammar. Use credible references. Midterm: The Midterm is a proctored exam and will cover Chapters 1-4. Presentations: Presentations can be done in class or online. If you choose do to your presentation online, then make sure to send me a link to your youtube video. Midterm: The midterm exam is proctored. Final: The final will be cumulative (Chapters 1-8). Make-ups will only been given if student has a university approved excuse and can provide documentation for it.

5 7.0 Drop Policy If you discover that you need to drop this class, you must go to the Records Office and ask for the necessary paperwork. Professors cannot drop students; this is always the responsibility of the student. The record s office will provide a deadline for which the form must be returned, completed and signed. Once you return the signed form to the records office and wait 24 hours, you must go into Duck Trax and confirm that you are no longer enrolled. Should you still be enrolled, FOLLOW- UP with the records office immediately? You are to attend class until the procedure is complete to avoid penalty for absence. Should you miss the deadline or fail to follow the procedure, you will receive an F in the course. 8.0 Academic Integrity Texas A&M University - Central Texas expects all students to maintain high standards of honor in personal and scholarly conduct.
