1 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Kathy Nobles, LOHOA Pres., Commissioner Robert Stuart, George Morning, Camino Real Assoc., Pam Johnson, Rosemont Shores Condo Association. It has really been and continues to be rewarding and humbling to serve as the Lake Orlando Homeowners Association(LOHOA) President. It is rewarding when we undertake a project and achieve the goals even higher than my high level of expectation. It is humbling when I continue to see a small group of homeowners throughout the Rosemont community commit to successfully complete tasks that are for the betterment of our community; and when I see a large group of volunteers willing to help us with our clean-up and beautification. One of these highly successful projects is the massive and comprehensive MLK Plant Seedlings for Civil Rights event held on January 21, This City of Orlando event was sponsored by the Mayor s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission and spearheaded by Jan Rahill and staff in the Green-up Orlando Department. This event really took a large collaborative effort by many residents, the City of Orlando staff and volunteers from several organizations and private companies throughout the city. True to his unfailing support, Commissioner Stuart also pitched in to help. We had more than 200 volunteers and 20 coming from our Rosemont community covering an area beginning with Orange Blossom Trail on the East to Pine Hills Road on the West of the community; along Long Road, around the entire Lake Orlando Parkway, and throughout all the main entrances leading into Rosemont which include Cinderlane Road, Rosamond and Lake Breeze. This was really a lively yet humbling experience!! Residents representing Arbor Oaks community, Camino Real, Rose Point, Dunwoody Place, Rosemont Shores Condos, and the Lake Orlando Homeowners Board contributed their time before and during this event to plan and then to execute the plan along with the City staff and volunteers. We had Rosemont residents that committed to being Team Captains to oversee initiatives, such as picking up trash; trimming trees and shrubberies; replanting and cleaning street islands; and replanting our two large roundabouts. Thank you to everyone who participated to make this grand event successful!! Thank you to the Mayor s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission for selecting our community to participate in this event and demonstrate how collaboration and commitment lead to success. This newsletter is dedicated to all the efforts made towards its success. It features many pictures, such as the one on this page, that capture the activities of the day by spotlighting our gathering place and ten targeted zones. 6 Page 6 Reopening of Lake Orlando Lake Orlando s water quality is very good and the bacterium count is now much below minimum. The lake is, once again, open for fishing. Thanks to the inquiries from LOHOA, the City Of Orlando is working diligently to monitor and maintain Lake Orlando and other Rosemont waterways for safe recreational use. We appreciate all their efforts in this endeavor. If you have any questions about obtaining boat ramp lake access, please contact Leroy at ANNUAL LOHOA HOMEOWNERS MEETING Our next Annual LOHOA Homeowners Meeting will be April 9, 2013, 6:30PM at Rosemont Community Center. You will be able to elect officers and identify areas of interest and concern. The membership committee developed a fee schedule to include other associations and multifamily units across the Rosemont community in the Lake Orlando Homeowners Association(see the 2013 membership application). As demonstrated by the large number of volunteers at our Rosemont Neighborhood MLK Plant Seedlings, it really does take a village!! We not only live in our immediate community surrounding our homes but also in the greater community in which we drive, walk, and complete daily errands. Together, we must continue to maintain the safety, beauty and vitality of our neighborhood. Through collaboration and support among ourselves we can be successful in a more comprehensive and efficient manner. The time is now open for membership renewal and commitment to support your community. Attached is the membership application for new members and for renewals. Please submit to our treasurer, Leroy Bickley, at the address reflected on the form. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Nobles at (407) or Faye Henderson at (407)
