3 Translating research into real-life Solutions Newcastle University plays a vital role in helping to translate academic research into real-life solutions. And as a core partner of Newcastle Science City, the partnership responsible for delivering Science Central, the University will have a presence on the development from Newcastle University is investing over 50m on Science Central, which includes a state-of-the-art urban sciences facility due to open in The building will span over 100,000 sq. ft. and will create a new home for its Institute for Sustainability where engineers, scientists and digital researchers will work together to discover solutions to the urban sustainability challenges we face.
