3 ENHANCING OUR APPROACH TO BUSINESS EDUCATION Cutting Edge Facilities Educating Tomorrow s Leaders Michigan State University s Eli Broad College of Business efforts to implement our new initiatives have been limited by our current facility, which lacks the latest technology, collaborative spaces to train future business leaders, and the gathering spaces for networking and social interactions with employers, business professionals, and alumni. From focus groups and feedback from admitted students who chose to attend other universities, we have learned that our facility is one of the more important reasons many of the top student prospects chose our competitors over us. Based on in-depth competitive analysis, we know that all of our peers in the Big 10 and most of our competitors nationally have newer, state-of-the-art facilities. The new Graduate Pavilion will allow the Broad College to leverage our existing strengths, facilitate and augment new initiatives, and differentiate our programs. The facility will enable the Broad College to develop a robust integrative culture for the Broad MBA Program and build on its mission to advance a platform of relationships with corporations, employers, alumni, and leading-edge thinkers. It will also allow us to capitalize on the strong portfolio of the college s professional master s programs in accounting, business analytics, finance, marketing research, supply chain management, and hospitality business. With a new Graduate Pavilion, the Broad College proposes to develop a new generation of leaders while enhancing our reputation and rankings by: Fostering a new academic ecosystem Leveling the playing field Enhancing our approach to business education Leveraging our existing strengths

5 OUR GOAL Enable the Broad Full-Time MBA Program to become a top-of-mind program. Increase the ranking of the MBA Program to be in the top 25 business schools. Become an even more vibrant community. Become a magnet for attracting highly motivated and talented students. Serve as an engine of opportunity. ABOUT THE GRADUATE PAVILION In the current construction plan, which is still preliminary, the Graduate Pavilion will have approximately 100,000 gross square feet of space and will be located adjacent to the Eppley Center on the MSU campus. The building will provide spaces for teaching and learning as well as offices for our MBA program and student groups. More than 60 percent of the space will be dedicated to instruction.

6 TEAM EFFECTIVENESS The Graduate Pavilion will be more than a building for our students and faculty; it will be a catalyst of change for the Broad College, providing renewed energy and reflecting the spirit and drive of what it means to be a Spartan. First-semester MBA students currently get far beyond the lecture and experience cutting-edge training in leadership and teamwork through in-depth, hands-on experiences on team roles, dynamics, accountability, and success. A Graduate Pavilion will allow us to expand these capabilities through flexibly arranged and digital rooms that will become collaboratories, places where student teams will have access to state-of-the-art technology, analytical software, massive datasets, and interactive displays. Student teams will experience the development of new business insights through predictive analytics for complex business problems. We will even be able to bring an entire MBA class together to learn and work - about 200 full-time and 300 weekend students.
