6 Our history Born in Giuseppe Panetta, after a twelve-year experience as automated systems designer at the Fiatengineering in Turin, decides to continue this work as a professional. The aim is to to make use of the different technical and management experiences developed in the technological plants (process and production) at Fiat. Experiences which are broadened in the Nineties through the participation in the design and start-up process of the special systems for the Melfi (Pz) and Pratola Serra (Av) new plants, which Fiatengineering realized on behalf of Fiat Auto at that time. From 2003 the firm acquires new know-how and experience through the progressive introduction of new designers., which will make the taking of larger and more important tasks possible. Thus, at the end of the same year the first orders for technical advice are acquired, dealing with the design of control and remote management of the LT HT distribution in the Turin Underground. This last project determines an important turning point in the Firm s structure named SPS srl from 2006 on suited to acquire projects of relevant technical and economical interest. 6

7 Our staff It is made of seven software designers and three electromechanical technicians in charge of hardware tests and system maintenance. Software designers come from considerable previous experiences which, together with the inner ones, have significantly contributed to the current SPS professional fund of knowledge. Among the ones mentioned above, four designers with higher technical skills and more experience are able to follow a project from the first specifications until the final start-up stage and the related documents. In more important projects a Project Director is designated and will be a unique and constant reference for the Customer throughout the planning process. 7

10 Our services Technical specifications (detailed description of the logics) At the very beginning projects do not always mention all the detailed information a Systems engineer needs to fulfill his task. In this case it is necessary to help the customer in a clear and comprehensive formulation of the possible event/action diagram of the system in progress. 11 Our services Preliminary design of the System architecture This activity, if requested, allows the customer to choose the solution with the best price/preformance rate. The choice of the system and kind of materials to be used sometimes allows the saving of installation costs (cables, via cable, framing etc). 11

13 The most important projects The Turin Underground Technical advice to the Val system supplying firm (Transfima) for the realization of the electrical distribution control system in the engine shed and stations. Realization of the automation system for ventilation, in regular and fire emergency tilt, of stations and ventilation shafts. Realization of the station evacuation automatic system in case of fire emergency. Realization of the SCADA system for the management of the safety systems NOT of the line system. The application manages 20,000 points I/O coming from the field. 13
