Since wind and solar energy are based on power purchase agreements that run for up to twenty years, it is vital that renewable electricity facilities remain efficient and viable over the long term. To support these long-term projects, EDF Energies Nouvelles has put operations & maintenance activities at the very heart of its business model in order to retain complete control over its generating portfolio. 4 A full range of services to ensure efficient generation Remote control of power plants 24 hours a day, 7 days a week Our European control centre monitors all our customers renewable electricity facilities around the clock. Production data is analysed on a continuous basis in order to detect any anomalies in real time and trigger the requisite corrective measures immediately. Asset maintenance We design preventive maintenance programmes encompassing inspections, power plant check-ups and incident analysis, and can arrange for corrective maintenance to be performed on site. Spare parts and tool inventories are checked to ensure tight budgetary control over purchasing and production. We work closely with our customers to keep their maintenance costs as low as possible. Budgetary data is shared on a fully transparent basis. Continuous monitoring of generating activities We endeavour to optimise the generating performance at all times through continuous data analysis, action timetables prepared based on meteorological, and advanced engineering data. Our goal is for each of our power plants to be available and operating at full capacity whenever the wind and sun can be harnessed. Narbonne photovoltaic power plant Narbonne is the first large-scale solar power plant in France. 6 Resources commensurate with the challenges you face Cutting-edge technologies Our maintenance centres are equipped with top-performing monitoring tools. The European control centre at Colombiers in France (Hérault department) oversees the solar and wind farms entrusted to our care in Europe. With a high tech control room providing an overview of all our installations, it continuously processes data originating from power plants and immediately detects any anomalies or problems requiring action to be taken. A network of rich and complementary expertise EDF EN boasts close to one thousand operations and maintenance experts around the world, who work closely together, including engineers, supervision and maintenance technicians, all recognised specialists in their field, trained in-house and competent in the main segments, i.e. wind, solar and small hydro energy. The teams at our North American subsidiary enxco boast nearly twenty five years of experience in the industry with 4,800 MW under contract. This unique expertise feeds our entire organisation. Since 2010, we have also worked with the teams of Reetec, our subsidiary specialising in wind turbine maintenance in Europe. An innovative engineering division An engineering division is dedicated to continuously analysing statistical data from facilities to guarantee the smooth and efficient operation of power plants generating activities. It works on specific programmes, provides a high-level technical support within the operating team and implements corrective measures based on a feedback loop with a view to achieving continuous improvement in performance. Local coverage The European maintenance centre is backed up by a network of regional centres located close to our renewable power plants. Whenever any warning is issued, the Colombiers centre dispatches a local maintenance unit, which takes the requisite action on-site as rapidly as possible.
