1 Miami University Graduation Survey Certificate and Associate s Degree Recipients The Graduation Survey asks degree candidates about their experiences while attending Miami and their postgraduation plans. Participants included 209 students who received a certificate or associate s degree in (73.3% response rate). 10.0% of the participants received a bachelor s or master s degree in addition to the certificate or associate s degree. The majority of participants (75.6%) completed the survey online during the 30 days prior to graduation. Detailed results for the survey, including demographic information for the participants, results for all survey questions for , and historical comparisons (when available) are in the attached tables. Future Plans When asked about their plans for next fall, 51.4% of students plan to attend school (3.8% plan to attend graduate school, 1.9% plan to attend professional school, and 46.6% plan to pursue additional undergraduate study). o Of those planning to attend graduate or professional school, 16.7% plan to obtain a graduate level certificate, 25.0% plan to pursue a master s level degree, and 8.3% plan to pursue a doctoral degree in a research/scholarship area (e.g., PhD, EdD). The remaining 50.0% had not yet decided on the specific program type. o Among students planning to attend a graduate or professional school, 33.3% had accepted an offer of admission by the time they completed the survey. The majority of students (71.6%) also plan to work after graduation (49.5% plan to work full time in their field of study, 13.9% plan to work full time outside their field of study, and 18.8% plan to work part time). o Among students who had begun searching for employment, 53.0% had received at least one offer of employment or were already working by the time they completed the survey. o Among students who had already accepted an offer of employment or were working at the company where they would be employed after graduation, 57.6% had been previously employed with the company, either as a full time employee, a part time or seasonal employee, or as an intern. o Among participants who had secured a full time position, the majority reported an estimated income in the range of $40,000 $49,999 per year (40.0%) or $60,000 $69,999 per year (20.0%). The majority of the students (83.8%) plan to live in Ohio after graduation while 8.5% plan to live in a different U.S. state. No students planned to live abroad. Experiences at Miami 90.5% of the students rated their entire educational experience at Miami as Excellent or Good. Many students participated in educationally beneficial activities while at Miami University. For example: o 24.5% worked on an independent study project. o 20.7% participated in an internship. o 71.9% frequently worked on a paper or project that required integrating ideas from various sources o 55.2% frequently practiced their public speaking skills, either inside or outside of the classroom Many students reported working while attending Miami: 13.8% worked part time on campus, 35.6% worked parttime off campus, and 36.2% worked full time while attending classes. Few students reported participating in co curricular activities at Miami, such as being an active participant in a student organization/club (16.5%).
