Day Words from the desk of the Principal The month of June has arrived. Teachers and students are busily finishing up projects and planning year end activities. I look forward to the many celebratory days coming up at Langruth Elementary: Class trips, Track and Field, Tabloid Day, Awards Day, Kindergarten Graduation, and Grade Eight Graduation. Activities, such as these, often mark the end of a school year. They are celebrations of accomplishment and also mark entrance to a new and exciting time in one s life. To this end, I would like to wish all of our Grade Eight Students, Draeden, Mathew, Lynden, David, and Sydney, all the best as they adventure to an new school and new adventures. I hope that your time at Langruth Elementary School has prepared you for high school and beyond. I would like to acknowledge Staff Members who will not be returning to LES next year for their contributions and welcome new staff to our school. Ms. Kopen will be starting a new career and is not returning next year. Thank-you for all you have accomplished with our students and all the best in your new position. Also, a big thank-you goes to Mrs. McLaughlin for all of her dedication and commitment to the students in her classroom and to all of the students in Langruth Elementary. I look forward to days when you can come and be a Guest Teacher at our school next year. Finally, I would like to welcome Ms. Ginter to our staff. Ms. Ginter will be the Grade 678 Homeroom teacher next year. Not all planning has been completed for the School Year. We do know that Kindergarten will be every other day (Odd Days of the School Cycle) and Grades 6, 7, and 8 students will be travelling to WMCI and GES for Band, Art, and Keyboarding Classes on Days 2 and 4. Band is compulsory for Grade Six and parents can look forward to information about the Band Program to arrive soon. Parents of Grade 7 and 8 will need to help make a choice between Band and Art Classes being offered in Gladstone. This form will be coming home soon. 3 Hello LES! The staff and students at LES are happy to welcome Ms. Amanda Ginter to our school next year. Ms. Ginter has submitted a brief biography below. We look forward to meeting her very soon! I am very excited to be joining you in September! I will be the Grade 6-8 teacher, as well I will be teaching K - 8 Phys-Ed, so I will have the opportunity to know everyone really well! A little about me... I've spent the last couple years teaching in Europe and the Middle East. I taught in Kuwait for a short time before making London, England my home for two years. I am a traveler at heart and have travelled to 20 countries! I was very lucky to have the opportunity to teach at Austin Elementary School this past year. I love sports. In the winter I make sure I curl as much as I can, as well as go snowshoeing. In the summer months I play baseball, volleyball and I m currently learning how to golf. Other hobbies I have are playing piano, scrapbooking and singing karaoke. I am really looking forward to getting to know all of you in September! Have a great summer!

5 Library/SHARP The last day for library and SHARP classes will be June 16th. All books must be returned by this date. If books are not returned we will be sending bills home to all students with outstanding books to cover the cost of the missing book. The students and staff at Langruth Elementary School would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Mrs. Sigurdson for all of the time she spent with our students preparing them for the festival. Also, for planning and organizing the Spring Concert that was held at LES on May 20th. Mrs. Sigurdson volunteers many hours to our school and our music program would not be the success it is without her help! The staff and students at LES would like to thank Donna McLaughlin. Donna stepped into the role of Gr teacher in mid - February and will be staying with us for the remainder of the school year. Thank you Mrs. McLaughlin for adding your energy and enthusiasm to our school every day. We cannot thank you enough for the dedication you have shown to our school and students.
