1 Summer Youth Work Experience Placements Available Summer Break Gallery Assistant Work Experience Placement The Vancouver Aquarium is currently recruiting 32 for our Summer Break Gallery Assistant Work Experience Placement. As a work experience student, you will be working within a team of students and staff to create the ultimate visitor experience for all of our visitors this summer. Your days will be filled with fun and varied tasks and they will have the opportunity to engage, amaze and inspire thousands of guests of all ages and from all around the world! As a work experience student, you will be working within a team of students and staff to create the ultimate visitor experience for all of our visitors this summer. You days will be filled with fun and varied tasks and they will have the opportunity to engage, amaze and inspire thousands of guests of all ages and from all around the world! Summer Gallery Educator Placement Interpretive Delivery Term of Position: Mandatory Group Interview: Saturday, May 25th from 1:00 pm 2:00 pm OR 2:00 pm 3:00 pm Mandatory Training: (All students must attend either the 15 th or the 16 th training) Saturday June 15 th from 9:00 am 5:00 pm Sunday June 16 th from 9:00 am 5:00 pm Group A (5 students) Thursday to Saturday Specific Dates: June 21-22, 27-29, July 4-6, 11-13, 18-20, 25-27

Leading a variety of educational stations related to the Jelly Invasion feature. Partnering with Interpretation volunteers to deliver information about other galleries and exhibits, including marine mammals, local fishes and invertebrates, and tropical ecosystems. Live animal demonstrations at Touchpool stations. Helping to manage and organize props used by the Vancouver Aquarium s Interpretive Delivery Team. Skills Preferred: Outgoing, enthusiastic and self-motivated Students currently in Grade 10, 11 or 12. Genuine interest in working with the public Enthusiasm for the world of biology Strong communications skills Experience with delivering excellent customer service Second language an asset Priority will be given to students who have taken part in previous Work Experience Placements. Summer Camps Educator Work Experience Placement We are looking for 64 highly motivated, energetic students to fill the Summer Camp Work Experience Placement. This placement will provide an excellent opportunity for students to gain experience working with children in an educational setting, work on their communication and leadership skills, develop a sense of teamwork and explore career options. Summer Camps Educator Work Experience Placement Education Term of Position: Mandatory Training: Saturday June 15 th from 9:00 A.M. 3:00 P.M. Students will volunteer 5 days out of the week, Monday to Friday, for two week periods. Group A (14 Students) July 2-5, Four day camp due to holiday July 8-12 Group B (14 Students) Shadow Day, July 12 July 15-19, Including Sleepover Thursday night July Group C (14 Students) Shadow Day, July 26 July 29- August 2 August 6-9, Four day camp due to holiday Group D (14 Students) Shadow Day, August 9 Aug August Group E 8 day placement and only 8 positions available August August Shift Times: 8:30 3:30 daily

Gain valuable experience working with children Gain valuable group leadership skills Priority placement in training Learn more about the animals at the Aquarium Completion of hours towards Work Experience requirements Summer Wet Lab Programs Work Experience Placement The Vancouver Aquarium is currently recruiting 15 students for our Summer Wet Lab Programs Work Experience Placement. As a work experience student, you can expect to be working within a small team of staff, volunteers, and other students as you carry out routine animal care tasks and procedures and maintain vital operations of our Wet Lab facilities while engaging visitors in educational conversation in order to facilitate the ultimate educational experience for our visitors as they handle and observe a wide variety of live tidal pool animals from local BC waters. 6 Term of Position: Mandatory Training: Group A Friday, June 28, 2013 Group B Thursday, July 18, 2013 Group C Thursday, August 8, 2013 Students will volunteer 5 days out of the week, Monday to Friday, during the dates below. Group A (5 students) Tuesday July 2nd-Friday July 19th Group B (5 students) Monday July 22nd-Friday August 9th Group C ( 5 students) Monday August 12th-Friday August 30th Shift times: 9:00am-2:00pm Description of This placement will provide an excellent opportunity for students to build their knowledge and stewardship skills with regard to caring for marine life and the marine environment while gaining teaching experience, communication skills, developing a sense of teamwork and exploring career options through: teaching visitors about marine shoreline life local to BC and the major conservation issues affecting it participating in and facilitating safe handling of marine invertebrate animals participating in daily animal care routines and operations in our Wet Lab facility Skills Preferred: Please Note: Outgoing, enthusiastic and self-motivated Students currently enrolled in/about to start grade 11 or 12. High level of professionalism and commitment; Experience and/or genuine interest in educating or interacting with people Strong English oral communications skills Second language an asset Interest in/passionate about marine biology Previous animal care experience is an asset but not necessary-training will be provided.
