1 London Knights OHL Marketing Internship Thanks for sharing an interest at my time spent with the London Knights OHL Hockey Team. I was fortunate enough to experience this great opportunity and work with a great team for the London Knights OHL Marketing Team. Below I would like to explain a few projects I worked on in detail, and share with you the many skills I have taken with me since this internship. Website Experience During this internship apart of my job was to work on the website and continually updated it based on current and future events that were taking place regarding the London Knights team. A few things that I was responsible for were: Creating and updating the Heart and Stroke Foundation Page. Updating the Fan Pages (Contests, Interactive Zone etc.) Updating the Community Pages (Knights in the classroom, Player Appearances) Updating and reformatting the Group Sales section to create a better appearance, and to create a more efficient page use for our customers and clients Advertising This internship required me to build on my creative skills. I was asked to build an advertisement for the London Knights team in the local Yellow Pages. The old advertisement was out of date, and therefore needed a revamp. A few things I was responsible for in regards to the advertisement were: I created a legal sized page advertisement strictly for the London Knights using the programs Photoshop, and illustrator.

2 This advertisement had requirements that had to be included which sometimes felt like it was limiting my creativity, however I worked around the barrier and was able to mix in my creative spunk, and still give the London Knights what they needed. The old advertisement had no physical eye-draw to it, therefore I ensured this new advertisement stood out and was the first thing you saw when you opened the local yellow page book. Sponsors A huge part of this internship was the London Knights Sponsors. Every game day the big sponsor would come in, and it was my responsibility to ensure these clients were our first priority. A few things that I was accountable for were: Meeting the sponsor every night at the security doors and showing them where they could set up and helped them set up if needed. I ensured that the sponsor had everything they needed for the night. I communicated through-out the entire game with the sponsor and got them anything they needed At the end of the night, I helped the sponsor take down anything they had and pack it up, and I would show them our appreciation and show them the way to exit the arena. Ticket Holders Ticket holders are a huge part of a facility like the John Labatt Center. The revenues that ticket holders, especially box seat ticket holders bring in is incredible. Because of this, a huge part of the night required making sure our guests were taken care of. Some nights we were required to go up to each box seat and ask them how they were enjoying the games, sometimes we were required to go up and do the 50/50 ourselves and some nights we tried to ensure them a good game by going in each room and getting them excited for the game by cheering and doing fun and outgoing things. Office Duties

3 For the internship, we were required to have 1 day a week at the office after school, and work every home game. During the office days, I was given numerous duties, depending on what needed to get done. A few things I worked on during my office time were: Contacting group sales groups to verify dates, timings and attendance. o Letters were typed and then sent out with tickets o Calls were made to verify payments and attendance Organization of binders for past, present and future group sales, and sponsors o Alphabetized o Payments Checked The website was always worked on during office time The planning of the Heart and Stroke Foundation Community event was planned. As you can see, I was open to a great experience in the marketing and business field. It was great to put my knowledge that I had learned from College and actually apply them to real life situations. A lot of the times it was hard work, and a second year college student sometimes it was discouraging to see my weekends cut short due to un-paid work, however all my accomplishments overcame that discouragement and really showed me that hard work pays off. Some skills I ve learned throughout this internship are: Creativity: I learned to be creative and think outside of the box. I learned that not everyone s creative thought is the same as mine and because of that I ve learned that collaboration is very important. Customer and Business Relationship: Being taught this in college, I knew ahead of time it was a huge factor in the business marketing world. However, until I truly experienced it first hand, I didn t know exactly how important it was. This internship taught me that you must make the best of customer and business relationships to run a business successfully and ensure that your clients will continue to come back. I ve learned numerous ways of doing this, and I ve learned to keep it as my top priority in my daily life. Office Duties: I ve learned the most important skill ever: To speak clearly and slowly. I kid you not, I can speak at super-fast pace, however this internship has taught me to slow my speech down and speak louder which in turn has brought my speech to be more professional and precise. I ve also learned how to professionally send out letters. This sounds dumb, but really if you fold a letter the wrong way, it doesn t look

4 professional to the associate opening the envelop, and we all know that first impressions defiantly count. Team Work: Team work has been taught to us our entire life however, doing group work in school and actually working with a team at work is completely different. I ve learned that every suggestion counts, especially mine. I ve learned to speak up and show my opinion and take others into consideration as well.
