Fast pyrolysis refers to thermal decomposition of a solid feedstock in oxygen-free environment in an aim to derive a liquid product - char and gas are produced as by-products Pyrolysis oil can be used to replace heavy fuel oil in industrial burner applications Integrated pyrolysis process = pyrolysis process integrated to a commercial scale boiler - Hot boiler bed material is used as heat source - Pyrolysis residual material is used as a boiler fuel - Utilizes existing infrastructure & supply chains - Extension of plant full load season by using district heat & steam for drying - Utilizes of waste heat - Economically viable liquid biofuel concept to reduce CO2-emissions 9
