3 Create Report 1. Click on New Click on the button New in the Report Tab or go to the File menu and select New report. 2. Select report folder and item Select the folder from which you would like to select report items. Select report items. Remove items by clicking on the red cross. Click. 3. Specify parameters Specify parameters for pages, funnels, campaigns etc. Start typing will activate the autosuggest list. Click. Regular expressions can be used for every report item with a parameter accepting wildcards, prefixing it with /regexp/. For example: /regexp/^(?!google).* shows all sources except Google. 4. Select reporting period and layout Select the reporting period, referencee period and the site(s). Customize the report layout by specifying the Size, Orientation and the number of Columns. Click. 3

4 Save Report 1. Click on Save Click on the Save button. 2. Select report folder Select the folder in which you want to save your report. If you save your report in the Personal folder, only you can access it. Reports that are saved in the Shared folder can also be accessed by your colleagues. 3. Name report Fill in the name of the report in the text field. Click OK. 4. Set report as homepage or favourite Set your favourite report as Homepage. Just click and the report will show every time you open the Report tab. Click to add your report to your list of favourites. In the Report tab, favourite reports can be recognized by and a homepage report by. Remove by clicking on it. You can find your favourite reports in the Tools panel when clicking in the upper right corner of the Report tab. 4

5 Open Report 1. Click Open Click on the button Open or go to the File menu and select Open report. 2. Select report folder Click on one of the report folders. Personal : Your personal reports. Shared : Reports your colleagues can access Predefined : Reports predefined by comscore Click on Report name to sort your reports or use the search box to find your report. 3. Select report Select your report and click OK. You can also double click on the name of the report to open it. 4. Manage Reports You can also open a report from the menu Manage and then select Reports. The dialog Manage Reports allows you to sort your reports by name, creation date, last viewed. It also shows if a report is set as favourite or scheduled to be sent by . Activate the sorting by clicking the name of the column you would like to sort. 5

6 Edit Report 1. Click on Properties Click on the icon Properties to edit your report. 2. Specify reporting period Select a predefined reporting period from the pull down menu or use the calendar to specify a custom period. If you would like to see a reference period, check the box Enable and do the same. 3. Select site and segment Specify the site and segment you wish to see data for or click on the icon Select to select it from a list. 4. Add report title and commentary Enter your personal comments and format the text using the style buttons. Click Refresh. 5. Choose layout Click Layout in the upper right hand corner to determine size, orientation and the number of columns for your report. Click OK. 6

7 Edit Report Item 1. Change graphs and charts Change the graphical options within the report itself by selecting for example Single statistic, Line graph, Histogram or Dial. The variety of options depends on the kind of report item. 2. Change settings Click on the icon Edit report item. Click on the blue arrow to see the settings you wish to change. Click OK & Refresh to see the resultss immediately and just OK to save your settings. Some settings are highlighted below. 3. Change chart If a chart is used for the selected report item, you can specify for each component what the colour in the chart should be. For example: for the item New vs. returning browsers, the line for New browsers would be blue and for Returning browsers it would be light blue. Select None if you don t want to see the component. 4. Specify visibility The option visibility allows you to select the details you wish to see in your report, such as - Reporting and Reference period - Site and Segment - Chart and Table - Item description and Commentary 7

8 Report 1. Click on Send To a report, click on Send in the upper right hand corner. 2. Specify settings Supply the address of the sender. Separate multiple recipient addresses with a comma. Specify the subject of the and a give details about the report in the text field (optional). 3. Select format Select if you would like to send the report as a zip file and the format. When HTML is selected, the report will be shown as HTML in the body of your Select delivery time Activate automatic delivery by checking the box. Specify the preferred delivery day in the pull down menus. The report has to be saved for this option. For immediate sending of the report, unselect the automatic delivery and click on button Send now. The report does not need to be saved first. 8

9 Report Builder 1. Click on Report Builder tab On the left you find the categories from which you can select the metrics. Click the plus sign to see the available metrics. 2. Select, order and specify elements Select a metric and drag and drop it to the metrics field, one of the grouping fields (column or row) or the parameters field. In the metrics field, click on and select a summary option for the data: count all values or count all unique values 1. Refine the data of your report item by applying a certain filter to it in the parameters field. 3. Delete or move elements Click on and select Delete to remove an element, or drag the element and drop it outside the fields. Select Move up / down or Move left / right to change its position or use the drag and drop functionality. Elements can also be moved from row to column and vice versa. 1 The summarize option Sum is only available for the elements Order value and Numerical label and adds up all values. 9

10 4. Add calculated column Click on to make calculations on the metrics and specify the formula you need 2. All valid numerical expressions are allowed. The new information will be added to a new column. 5. Apply segment Existing segments can be applied to any column. Click on and go to Select segment. Select it from Manage segments and click OK. Applying a segment in the Report Builder might differ from results in Digital Analytix. See Appendix A. 6. Determine scope and rule For most metrics, a scope can be selected. This determines if the data shown is based on events, visits or browsers. Within the scope, certain rules can be applied that determine which values to show. See Appendix B. Click on and select Scope / Rule. 7. Preview report item Click on the tab Preview to see how your report item will look in Digital Analytix 3. Change the site, time period and segment as you wish. Then click on Update to see the results. If the box Use sample is checked, a quick preview of sampled data is shown. In Digital Analytix, you will see all data. 2 Column two should be specified as column(2). Only the English word column can be used in the formula. 3 In Digital Analytix, the preview settings for the item will be overridden by the selected Digital Analytix settings. 10

11 8. Publish report item Click to add your report item to the item tree in Digital Analytix. The dialog Manage Report Builder items appears where you can create your own folders and specify a name for the item. In Digital Analytix, request the item from the folder User defined. Report builder items will be shared between colleagues. 9. Data lookup The Report Builder offers the possibility to look up data values from your database using label values as keys. Data in that database can be freely combined with Digital Analytix data. Please contact your account manager for more information. The element Data lookup can be found under the category Label. Select and drag and drop it to the column, row or parameter field. 10. Specify parameters The following parameters have to be specified. Table name - Name of the database table used. Key column - Name of the column in the database table whose value is compared against the label value when retrieving the data. Label name - Name of the label whose value is compared against the key column in the database table. Data column - Name of the column in the database table whose value will be returned and displayed. 11

12 Segmentation 1. Select and remove filters Click the Segmentation tab. Hover your mouse over a category and select a filter by dragging and dropping it to the filter area on the right-hand side. Remove a filter by clicking the cross next to the filter name. 2. Specify filter values Filter values are indicated with. They should be filled in to define your segment, for example to specify a page name. Or to specify the value of the visit. 3. Specify site and time period Click on Preview Settings in the lower right corner to specify the site and time period. When clicking on Update, the yellow bar gives immediate visual feedback on the size of the browser group for the selected site and time period. Click outside the dialog box to close it. i 4. Apply segment to report Click on Apply to current report to view the results for the created segment in your report. 12

13 5. Exclude browsers with one click Exclude certain browsers from your selection by selecting did NOT. This will change Browsers who did into Browsers who did NOT and vice versa. 6. Create or relations To create a browser group who did X or did Y (instead of X and Y), just drag and drop a filter from the categories directly onto another filter. Both filters will automatically switch to an Or relation. 7. Save segment Click on Save segment, give it a clear name and click on Save. When applied to your report, the segment name is shown on top of your report. All saved segments can be found in the top menu Segment under Manage segments where you can also open a segment. 8. Easily re-use segments Saved segments can easily be re-used for other reports. Select in the category Custom the filter Segment. Specify the name of the segment and click on Update report. 13

14 Preferences/Settings 1. Click on Preferences/Settings Click on Preferences/Settings in the lower right corner to set your default Report, User, and Site settings and to change your password. Some settings are discussed below. 2. Report settings In the Report tab, you can specify the default site, reporting and reference period for your report and if you would like to see descriptions for the selected items in your report. The Layout tab let you define the default size, orientation and number of columns. In the Charts tab, you can select your default colour theme for the line graphs in your report. 3. User settings In the User settings dialog you can specify your default language, date and number format or upload your company logo. 14

15 Appendix A Segmentation There are two methods to create segments: Full period: Time interval: First counts the number of browsers belonging to the segment in the full period and then applies the result to the selected report time interval (per day/week/weekday/full period). Counts the number of browsers belonging to the segment per chosen time interval (day/week/month). This time interval equals the selected report time interval. Both methods are available in Digital Analytix. In the Report Builder only Full Period is available. Example segment: select browsers who did visit the site more than 1 time (V=visit) Browser A B C 23 June V V V V 24 June V V 25 June V Browser A B C Full period VVV VVV V Method: Full period During the full period, browsers A and B visited the site more than 1 time. Next determine for the selected report time interval on which day these browsers visited the site: Report time interval: per day Browsers 23 June 2 A, B 24 June 2 A, B 25 June 1 B Report time interval: full period Browsers Total 2 A, B Method: Time interval Only browser A did visit the site more than 1 time (23 June). In the full period, browsers A and B visited the site more than 1 time. 16 Appendix B Report Builder Scopes and Rules For most elements, a scope can be selected. This determines if the data shown is based on events 4, visits or browsers. Within the selected scope, certain rules can be applied. They determine which values for the selected element should be shown in the data. Scope = Visit, Browser or Event Rule = First value to all events - Distribute first value to all events within the selected scope First value to next events - Distribute first value to next events within the selected scope Current value to next events - Distribute current value to next events within the selected scope Example: A browser visits the site twice. Visit 1 has 3 events (e), visit 2 has 4 events. Events 2 and 6 contain the search engine Google, event 5 the search engine Bing.
