The most popular drink is famous Czech beer and in Moravia they produce and drink delicious wine. Czechs are not only good eaters but also good sportsmen. The most popular sports are football, icehockey, basketball, tennis, athletics. The Czech Republic has a rich tradition in visual arts, literature and music. The country s most famous writers are Franz Kafka, Karel Čapek, Josef Čapek,, Jaroslav Seifert, Josef Škvorecký, Milan Kundera, Arnošt Lustig, Ota Pavel, Václav Havel and others. Václav Havel wrote many plays some of which are performed also in other countries such as. Czech composers have gained a high reputation outside the country. The greatest composer is Antonín Dvořák with his ninth symphony entitled which was inspired by his visit to America. Another famous composer is Bedřich Smetana who among others wrote his well known Má Vlast a cycle of symphonic poems. There is a long tradition of filmmaking in the Czech Republic. Among well-known directors belong for example Karel Zeman (animated films), Jiří Trnka (animated films), Jiří Menzel, Věra Chytilová or Jan Hřebejk. Zdeněk Svěrák together with his son Jan Svěrák are authors of an Oscar awarded film Kolja. Miloš Forman won Oscars for his direction of the films and Amadeus.
