Chin must be tucked in, head in close. Tackle is part of running action Next movement from contact is an upward direction. Chin must be tucked in, head in close. Be vigorous in the tackle, 2 nd effort (wrestle). Looking for handles, behind knee, elbows, knee, jersey. 16 COMMUNICATION Teach players to talk to their team mates, and help each other to identify and solve problems. Communication is a very important part of our game, give individuals key words to say, a second rower might be lazy coming off the line, give him the key word to call the line up, PUSH UP, this will help switch him on, wingers to COUNT tackles as they must go back for the kick All positions should have team key communication calls and their own key communication, to help the team and their own game. Suggestions are: Push Up Spread Out Keep one line Stay together Chase the kick Good tackle, pat on back You go, I ll hold Come out Come in Point at and nominate man That s your man Count Tackles I ve got marker Work Back Come with me With you Markers talk Shut the gate / Tie in Push out Push in I ve got ball Push left/right Page 15
