5 LAT 2-5 Zoo visitor Task: A zoo has asked you to make new information signs for its animal displays. You need to design an a3 poster for an animal from a very cold polar region or very hot desert climate. Polar animals: Emperor penguin, Polar Bear, Arctic fox. Desert animals: Fennec fox, Jack rabbit, camel, kangaroo rat. The information poster must include: A description of animal s environment. A diagram of animal and a description of how it is adapted to live in its environment, including: body size, thickness of coat, amount of body fat, camouflage. Describe any threats to the animal and its home. Key words adaptation, competition, conservation, environment, extreme, temperature, pollution, population, predator, Skills used: 1.1 Level ladder: What is your target level? Use the level ladder to help you reach it: To get You might have: level 2 Draw a picture of you chosen animal Name an animal and state where it lives 3 List some adaptations of your animal 4 Describe some of the adaptations for your chosen animal Describe the place where your chosen animal lives 5 Explain how some of the adaptations you have described help your animal to survive in its environment

Suggested websites: This piece of work will go towards final assessment level In this topic students have been looking at adaptations this piece of homework is designed to allow students to apply their knowledge gained in lessons to an extended piece of work. This is a longer piece of homework and the effort students put into this task should be reflective of this. They should refer to the level ladder and the work should be in their own words. This can be handwritten or typed up on a computer.
