3 OTher FinAnciA AiD sources It is the student s responsibiity to report a sources of estimated financia assistance incuding departmenta schoarships, empoyee tuition remission, outside schoarships, aternative (or outside) student oans, third party assistance, housing benefits or waivers to the Student Financia Aid Office. Pease visit the US Department of Education s website for more information on schoarship searches: FinAnciA AiD PrOcessing steps Compete an Appication for Admission to attend Kentucky State University (KSU). If previousy enroed at KSU, pease check with the Registrar s Office and/or Admission Office to see if an updated Enroment Appication is needed. Compete the Free Appication for Federa Student Aid (FAFSA) at Appy as soon as possibe after January 1st every year. Kentucky State University s Federa Schoo Code is what happens After competing the Financia Aid Appication? 1. After submitting the FAFSA, you wi receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). Review the SAR for accuracy and verify KSU is isted as one of your schoo choices. Whether you fie your FAFSA by mai or eectronicay, our office wi receive the resuts. 2. The Financia Aid Office wi request any additiona information necessary to compete your aid fie. It is imperative you submit any requested documentation as soon as possibe. Many items may be identified from the Unsatisfied Student Requirements found on your KSU Student sef-service WIRED page at 3. Once your fie is compete, our office wi review your eigibiity for a federa/state student aid programs. Federa award etters wi be maied out after you have been awarded aid. A processed FAFSA and a required verification & other requested documents (as we as notice of any outside agency assistance and/or any schoarships) must be on fie in the KSU Financia Aid office by the semester Processing Deadine Date in order for you to receive anticipated aid by the semester Payment Due Date. 8 1

FA PriOriTy Fiing AnD PrOcessing DeADine DATes: Term Fa Spring Summer Appication (Pease note: You must appy for admission to KSU) FAFSA - priority fiing deadine is Apri 15th FAFSA - priority fiing deadine is October 15th FAFSA - priority fiing deadine is October 15th of prior year KSU Summer Attendance form Processing Deadine Date for Financia Aid fie competion prior to Payment Due Date Juy 1st December 1st Apri 15th OTher FinAnciA AiD reminders Most awards isted on your award notification etter or your WIRED financia aid awards page are based upon fu-time enroment (12 credit hours or more-undergrad/ 9 credit hours or more- Graduate) eigibiity. Awards may be adjusted to match eigibiity based on enroment eve after the census date of each semester if you do not attend fu-time. If you drop a cass before that session begins, your financia aid wi be adjusted accordingy. Dropping beow haf-time may resut in canceation of some aid awards. It is strongy recommended that if you drop casses with the intention to add others, that you drop and add casses on the same day. If you have been awarded the Pe Grant, it cannot be increased if you add a cass after the Financia Aid census date. You wi be responsibe for repaying any funds you are not eigibe to receive as a resut of a change with enroed hours or in your financia aid data. IF you are receiving educationa assistance from another source, this information must be reported to our Financia Aid office. You may indicate the source and amounts by contacting our office to directy report your other educationa assistance. 2 satisfactory Academic Progress (sap) Federa reguations mandate that students receiving federa student aid under Tite IV programs must maintain satisfactory academic progress in the FA eigibe course of study. sap is evauated at the end of every spring regardess of whether aid is received during the schoo year. sap rue of measurement standards: Exampe: Quaitative (cumuative 2.0 GPA for UNDERGRADs; cumuative 3.0 GPA for GRADs); Quantitative (maximum time in cumuative hours must be ess than 150% of the degree required hours) Program hours Tota Attempted Attempted mtf-sap needed to graduate (a courses) x 150% standing 66 credit hours Student A : 90 Hours Meeting SAP Meets SAP < 99 hours 120 credit hours Student B : 197 Hours Meeting SAP Not Meet SAP < 180 hours Pease note: if you are a transfer/returning student who has course work that exceeds the maximum hours, you may have to appea to receive aid once your cumuative hours are entered into our system; Quantitative Percentage (Earned hours/ attempted hours must be 67% percent or more). After the end of the Spring semester, the SAP evauation for a students wi occur. If you do not meet the SAP standards, you wi not be eigibe to receive federa financia aid. There wi be an opportunity to submit an appea if you have extenuating circumstances that ead to your faiure to meet the requirements. Submission of an appea does not guarantee reinstatement of aid. Students currenty on an "approved" SAP appea wi be evauated at the end of the semester of Probation. If you are NOT meeting the conditions of your appea, you wi not be eigibe to receive federa financia aid for future semesters. 7

5 KeePing FinAnciA AiD Understanding the guideines for aid sources and responsibiities for aid recipients is important to ensure on-going financia assistance. how enroment Affects Financia Aid eigibiity Aid is disbursed with the assumption that you wi compete 100% of the semester at the enroment status determined on the FA Census Date. If You: what happens to Financia Aid never Attended the cass Aid is pro-rated to match new enroment status. never Attended A casses A aid is returned to the origina source, incuding the amount reeased to you in a refund check. You are not entited to receive any aid if you do not attend any casses. withdrawa from cass(es), but not a casses Tota withdrawa from a casses stop Attending unofficia withdrawa If you withdraw after the add/drop period & after the census date, disbursed-aid return is not required. Future schedued disbursements wi be canceed. This situation may affect your future semesters aid eigibiity (i.e. Satisfactory Academic Progress). Return to the origina federa aid source is required if you did not compete 60% of the semester. The cacuation is based on the ratio of days competed/ tota days of the semester. Return of 50% of federa aid to the origina source. if you receive A faiing grades, you wi be reviewed in this category. If you did compete the semester; however, it was not very successfu, pease respond to notices sent from the Financia Aid office and contact the appropriate course instructor to ensure that your ast date of attendance was recorded/reported. 6 If our office makes any changes to your financia aid, an emai notice wi be sent to your KSU emai account directing you to review your revised financia aid through WIRED Account. It is extremey important that KSU has the current and accurate address information on fie for you. Pease review your permanent, maiing and residence ha addresses to ensure maied information is sent to your correct address(es). how DO i Check my emai account? student e-mai AccOunTs: Student accounts provide access to student emai and on-site access to the computer abs. username: Your username wi be: [First Name].[Last Name] Exampe username: John.Doe PAsswOrD: Your initia password wi be [Ksu] + [ your KSU STUDENT ID number] typed without hyphens. 6 student requirements *- You wi need to know your student ID number. The defaut PIN is your date of birth (MMD- DYY- exampe: June 1, 1994 is ). For security purposes, it is recommended that you change your PIN upon initia access into the system. As with your Federa Student Aid PIN, pease do not share your PIN with others as information may potentiay be compromised. 3. check my financia aid status? After you have ogged into WIRED, choose the Financia Aid tab. 4. Accept my financia aid awards? After you have ogged into WIRED, Cick on Financia Aid Tab Cick on Award Cick on Award for Aid Year for appropriate year and Submit For FWS, TEACH and Direct Loan processing, you may cick on the Accept Award Offer tab to accept, reduce, or decine your offer. To view your account status, seect Financia Aid Status and then Seect Aid Year and Submit Some awards, i.e., grants and schoarships, wi be automaticay accepted by the Financia Aid Office depending on the programs' specific requirements and after a audits have been competed. There is nothing the student needs to do to accept these awards. Aso, students cannot accept the Parent Pus Loan. Pease visit to appy for the Parent Pus Loan. The parent must ogin with Parent FAFSA PIN# and compete the "Request Pus Loan" which is the credit check. If approved the parent can then e-sign the Parent Pus MPN (if one not aready on fie). The Pus Loan wi be changed to an accepted status if the parent appies for and is credit approved for this oan. 4 5
