Having worked as a Spanish teacher in Ireland, I understand what is expected of Irish students at both levels. 3 What am I going to learn at CSS Valencia? Teachers here at CSS Valencia are native Spanish teachers who have years of experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language. We are unique in that we are a Spanish language school in Spain that o ers an experience speci cally tailored to the Junior Certi cate and Leaving Certi cate Spanish exam. In our morning classes students study general Spanish with a goal to improving their con dence and communication skills while the afternoon classes are specifically focused on the Irish curriculum. Students will learn in a fun, relaxed environment while also getting to absorb the culture, sights and sounds of the amazing city of Valencia, Spain! All students on our course will be studying the four main skills of language learning reading, writing, speaking and listening along with developing their grammar and vocabulary. The main focus of our classes is to develop students ability to communicate and to activate their existing knowledge of Spanish. Check out our Blog! 4 Timetable Sample One Week Itinerary Classes: Students study for four hours every morning followed by an afternoon class focusing on the Irish curriculum. Classes are taught by teachers. There is a maximum number of 10 students per class. Dinner: After a day of classes and afternoon leisure and culture activities, students return home to dine with their host families. In Spain families tend to eat dinner later in the evening around 9 p.m. opportunity to engage in conversation and experience true Spanish hospitality. Induction Packed lunch provided by host family Orientation tour of Valencia Dinner with host family Class (4 hours) Conversation, and activities focusing on the Junior and Leaving Medieval Valencia, including a climb up the Serranos Towers Location of school: Class (4 hours) Weekly Test Conversation, and activities focusing on the Junior and Leaving Visit to Port Saplaya, Valencia s Little Italy Our classes are held in a local language centre, located north of the river bed. The neighbourhood is a lively, vibrant area with plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops and parks. All our classrooms are fully equipped with modern educational technology. 3 Centre of Spanish Studies

5 Academics: Among topics covered are diary entry, letter writing, listening comprehension and a wide range of vocabulary. There is a big emphasis on oral practice in all our Students have a weekly test. Excursions: Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Class (4 hours) Class (4 hours) Full day excursion with packed lunch. Free day Students go on a full day Saturday excursion every week. Excursions include places such as the City of Arts and Sciences or to experience the thrill and fun of the Aquopolis waterpark, 60km south of Valencia. Conversation, and activities focusing on the Junior and Leaving Conversation, and activities focusing on the Junior and Leaving Paddle on the beach Free time to explore the city Activities: Students can participate in a variety of activites. These include beach volleyball, and indoor rock climbing. Culture: Sample cultural activities include a paella making class, tours of Valencia s historic city and visits to its internationally renowned museums and cultural centres. 6 5 reasons to choose Valencia... Valencia is a city of 1 million people and is situated on the east coast of Spain. Valencia enjoys 300 days of sunshine per year and temperatures in July range from 24 to 30 degrees Celsius. Food: Paella originated in Valencia and forms a major part of the Mediterranean diet. The typical Valencian paella consists of chicken, rabbit, rice and vegetables. Spanish cuisine has a well-deserved international reputation with popular dishes including paella, Spanish omelette and tapas. Beach: from the school. The beach has a beautiful promenade lined with restaurants and market stalls. Our sporting activities are organised on the beach. These include beach volleyball, River bed: Valencia s unique dry river bed is 9 km long and contains walking, cycling and jogging tracks. It has a wide variety of sporting facilities such as football pitches and baseball diamonds. It is a very popular recreational area that stretches through the centre of Valencia, and is the perfect destination for people to get away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city streets. Old city: Valencia s historic centre is located in the heart of Valencia. Containing the cathedral, town hall and central market, this area is the liveliest part of the city especially during the summer months with plenty of things to see and do. City of Arts and Sciences: The city of Arts and Sciences is a major tourist attraction in Valencia. It is a collection of futuristic looking buildings consisting of a music concert hall, a 3-D cinema, an aquarium and an interactive science centre. 5 Centre of Spanish Studies

Each host family accommodates only one English speaking student, opportunity to speak as much Spanish as possible in the home. All of our host families are located within easy reach of the school.
