3 1 Introduction The FC6 Fan Controller is designed to satisfy the requirements of Australian standard AS1668 & can be connected to a Cooper analogue addressable fire alarm control panel by means of the comms Loop utilizing only one address. There are 6 channels per Fan Controller capable of controlling & indicating 6 individual Fans. All FC6 Fan Controllers are programmed individually by means of the unique easy to use Cooper CAPPER PC software. Each channel is programmed to an output device and feedback input device in the loop (for example, MIOM-C, MIU871c modules) to control & monitor the status of the Fan. 2 Overview Status LED Power LED (Green) when Fan Control is working normally, the LED on. Fire Activation LED (Red) Operates when fire alarm is received from main panel Controls Key Switch Auto / Manual key switch: used to select auto or manual control. Select Auto Mode: Green LED. The Fan Control operation is initiated by the state of the Fire Panel. Select Manual Mode: Red LED, The Fan Control operation is controlled by the Stop/Start buttons on the individual channels. Reset Button Press the button to reset Fan Control. Reset from the main panel will not reset the fan controller. Test LED Pressing the test LED button will start the control panel self-test. 4 Channel 1-6 Start/Stop Buttons Start button: press the button, start one device. (Requires to start two channels of the one device) Stop button: press the button to stop one device. (Requires to stop two channels of the one device) LED Indication ON LED (Red) Activated when the device receives feedback and the Start button has been pressed. Flashes when the feedback is received during normal operation (no button press). Fault LED (Amber) Activated when No Feedback has been received after Start has been pressed or Stop button has been pressed but feedback has been received and/or Open Circuit/Short circuit has been reported, otherwise off. OFF LED (Green) Activated when the stop button has been pressed and No Feedback has been received or no feedback is being received, otherwise off. 3 PC Software Operation (CAPPER) 1 Run the application CAPPER.exe. 5 3 Make channel 1 enable as picture 3, and choose loop mode, then fill in the address of output and feedback. 4 Write a rule as picture 4 Picture 3 Picture Choose stages 4.2 The method of writing rules is same as site installer. 4.3 Click OK 4.4 If you use 6 channels, you need open 6 channels and write 6 rules. 4.5 Save your project (Picture 5) Page 5 / 11

7 4 PC Software Operation (Site Installer) 1. Start Site Installer program. 2. Right click Fan Controller icon and select Configure (Picture 8) Picture 8 3. Follow instructions given in section 3 (PC Software Instructions (CAPPER)) Picture 9 4. When configuration is completed, close the window and right click Fan Controller icon and select Upload. 8 5 Fan Controller Operation 5.1 Operation Process Switch in manual For example, channel 1 in Fan Control corresponds to one output module (The Channel requires to operate two output contacts within the one module) and one feedback module in loop 1, such as MIO840c, MIU871c. Customer wants to trigger this output module, he can press the On button of channel 1 to trigger it manually, once the feedback module has been operated the on Led of channel 1 should operate. If Fan Control doesn t receive the feedback signal in 25s, then Fault Led should operate on Channel one. Customer can press the stop button to stop the output module; once the feedback has stopped being operated the OFF LED should operate. If the feedback module does not stop receiving a signal then the Fault LED should operate Switch in auto For example, channel 1 in Fan Control corresponds to one output module and one feedback module in loop 1, such as MIO840c, MIU871c. When main panel receives a fire alarm signal the Fan Control triggers the output module in loop 1 according to the linkage rules. The ON/OFF Led of channel 1 should operate in correspondence to the linkage rules i.e. if it should start the feedback should receive a signal and the Start LED should operate. If Fan Control doesn t receive the correct feedback as per the Linkage Rules then in 25s the Fault LED should operate. In auto mode, the customer should have no control over the start/stop functions manually Switch From "Auto to Manual The customer can switch the Fan Control from Auto to Manual during a Fire Alarm and switch the Fan OFF or ON if required Reset In auto mode or manual mode, the customer also can press Reset button to reset the Fan Control (all LEDs off and all devices stop) Test In auto mode or manual mode, the customer can press Test button to start self test, all of the LED flashes 3 times Switch From Manual to Auto If Fan Control in manual mode and main panel receive fire alarms, Fan Control doesn t trigger any output modules, but will store the fire alarms in ram. 9 Then turn to auto mode, CAP will trigger the output modules according to the linkage rules based on the stored alarms. All LED should operate as per previously described. The Fire Activation LED will operate when this is stored and will clear once Reset is pressed. 5.2 Notes The feedback module and Fault LED should operate in conjunction with each other should the following occur: o Do not set feedback in CAPPER for the device, the Fault LED will never operate. o Start button has been pressed and no feedback has been received, after 25 s the Fault LED is switched on. The LED is off when faults disappear. Faults include the "open" and "short circuit". Reset from the main panel will not reset the fan controller. Stop button has been pressed and feedback is still being received, after 25s the Fault LED is switched on. The LED is off when faults disappear Page 9 / 11
