2 INSTRUCTIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSIGNMENTS Dear student, you should make time to visit the library and read some more books. Remember to keep confidentiality on information obtained from companies; this information should only be used for academic purposes. You should avoid plagiarism. Assignment specific instructions are as follows: Assignment 2: This project must have all citations and references. Please attach questionnaire used to obtain information (NB: You will lose marks for not attaching the questionnaire) If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. You are required to visit the companies and do the investigation, interview and etc in order to obtain relevant information for the assignments. ASSIGNMENT 2 HOSPITALITY MARKETING CAMPAIGN PROJECT Knowing that Namibia has off and peak seasons, your task is to address this issue in this project. Your task is to develop creative initial to be used in marketing a hospitality business during the off season of Namibia. Your goal is to do the following: Pick a local hospitality operation (café, restaurant, hotel etc.) Generate a set of questions and interview the owner/manager, to get insight into their business. Determine their needs for branding and product placement in and outside the community. Determine which of the products or services require top advertising needs. Develop marketing strategies for promoting these products and services. Explain how you will market and advertise this business, and who will be the target market during the off season. 2

3 What type of sales promotions and strategies would you use to promote this business? You have a lot of latitude and freedom to show your creativity and ingenuity in this project. [Marks 50] The assignment should be written in the following format: 1. Introduction: Student will be assessed base on their ability to search for information, combine it and elaborate in their own creativity. This part should sum up the assignment; hence all the most important information should be included here. Student was assessed based on their knowledge and understanding about core hospitality marketing campaign initiatives and strategies. 2. Company background: Students were expected to give a brief overview of the hospitality business enterprise they have investigated. All company information should be included here, like the history of the business, year of inception, mission, vision, goals and objectives, core values and more. The following are the subheading to be included in the company background: 2.1. Products and/or services. In this section students were expected to name or list all the products and services the company offers to its clients. All the products or services were to be explained. Pictures of the hospitality products were allowed to be included here, so as to let the reader understand more about the business products and services. 3

4 2.2. Customer The students were required to state the current customers of the tourism business investigated. You were also at liberty to mention prospective customers of the business if there is any. Also, the reasons as to why customers buy the product and/or service from this company were to be indicated and explained here Competitive advantage Identify and describe the competitive advantage of this business. All the aspects of business in which the chosen tourism business is good at were supposed to be described in this subsection Mission, Vision and core values The company mission, vision and core values to mentioned and elaborated in this section Goals and objectives The students were required to mention the goals and objectives of the business. 3. Discussion 3.1. Branding needs and placement The Students were required to determine their needs for branding and product placement in and outside the community Advertising needs Determine which of the products or services require top advertising needs. The students are to name and explain why certain products require top advertising needs and why the others are not. 4

Marketing strategies Develop marketing strategies for promoting these products and services The company marketing and advertising Explain how you will market and advertise this business, and who will be the target market during the off season Sales promotions and strategies Discuss the sales promotions and strategies would you use to promote this business. 4. Conclusion Student will be assessed base on their ability to conclude and use of their critical thinking by giving their own opinion on topic discussed in the report. Also, all points discussed have to be put together in this part of the assignment. 5. Recommendations This is the section where by the students can give their ideas on how the business can strategically plan to do different campaign programs in order to achieve its marketing communication goals and objectives. 6. References This is the section were the students have to list all the sources where the information used was obtained. 5
