3 Our Rooms Council Chamber The centre of civic life since 1903, the character and grandeur of the Council Chamber make it ideal for hosting your dinner dance, reception or banquet. The rooms focal points are its impressive dome stained-glass ceiling and striking fireplace. Murals depict the Coat of Arms of the spouses of the Kings and Queens of Scotland while the room boasts outstanding views of the city and some of Edinburgh s most famous landmarks. It can also be used for large meetings, lectures and conferences. In addition there is a gallery space that can accommodate 25 people. European Room Lined with impressive paintings by William Hole RSA, depicting some of the most significant events from six centuries of Edinburgh s rich history, the European Room is the perfect venue for extravagant dining including receptions, banquets and conference catering. It can also be used for large meetings and presentations. Dunedin Room The walls of this impressive room are panelled throughout with timber from the Otago region in New Zealand where Dunedin, Edinburgh s sister city, is the capital. Another key feature of the room is the historical paintings of previous Lord Provosts of Edinburgh. A large central table seating up to 27 makes it the ideal location for both private and corporate dinners and meetings. Diamond Jubilee Room The centre of the City s political life from 1811 until The Diamond Jubilee Room boasts the grandest of entrances with three magnificent chandeliers illuminating its striking features. This room s large central table make it the ideal setting for dinners, small receptions, boardroom meetings and presentations. There is also additional seating available round the edges of the room. Mandela Room The Mandela Room celebrates the South African President, Nelson Mandela and his struggle for freedom from oppression during Apartheid. The Mandela Room is an all purpose room generally set up for board meetings for up to 16 delegates. It can also be used for seminars, training, interviews and meetings. Dean of Guild Court Room The Dean of Guild Court Room was where formally constituted Town Council meetings of the Dean of Guild Court were held. Today while Deans have no official civic significance they chair meetings, meet, greet and contribute to many social and charitable events. Dean of Guild Waiting Room The Dean of Guild Waiting Room is suitable for smaller meetings for up to 12 delegates. In addition it is often used as a waiting area for events held in the Dean of Guild Court Room as well as for training sessions, interviews or small seminars. It can also be used as a breakout area for the Business Centre. Councillors Lounge The Councillors Lounge is used as a dining room for elected members. This room is home to some superb decorative features, including stained glass windows. It can be hired at evenings and weekends and used as an addition to your main room throughout the course of your booking. It is suggested that the area is used for a drinks and catering reception for up to 70 people or as a quiet breakout area. Business Centre The Business Centre offers modern facilities and theatre style seating along with catering for up to 60 delegates. In addition to the main auditorium space, there are two break out areas and a separate catering area for lunch and coffee breaks. This space is an excellent choice for meetings, presentations, workshops, training seminars, small conferences and lectures.
