1 The Warby Whisper Wednesday 11th March 2015 Volume 12, Issue 7 Dear Parents and Friends, Our semester 1 working bee is scheduled for this Friday after school. If you are unable to make the 3.30pm start we d still welcome your assistance at a later time. Bring a wheelbarrow, bring a rake we have several areas that could do with a general clean-up. The gardens around the buildings, particularly outside and behind the prep room, desperately need weeding. If you can possibly make it, we d really appreciate your help. The more volunteers the better the result. Let s join together to improve the school grounds for the children. CRAZY HAIR DAY Bailey Moncrieff is shaving his hair off at the assembly on Monday 16th March to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation. Donations can be made at any time in the box in the school office. Please fill in the form if you require a tax deductable receipt. Remember also we are having a Crazy Hair Day everybody can do wild things with their hair colour, gel, clips, decorations but please also send along a GOLD COIN donation for this worthy cause. Thank you RIDE TO SCHOOL DAY On Friday 13th March we propose to have our first Ride to School day. Children are invited to join Mrs Hogan who will ride from Hamilton Park, along the NEW bike path to the school. Riders can gather at Kingfisher Lane, Hamilton Park at 8.15am, or meet at start of bike path at 8.30am. Students bikes must be roadworthy and riders must wear roadsafety gear helmets and if possible fluoro vests. Fresh fruit will be on offer as a refreshment when they arrive at school. NB. Parents need to organise return home arrangements.

2 STUDENT OF THE WEEK AWARD Grade 5/6 K: Seth always having a go in class and displaying exceptional Getting Along skills. Grade 5/6 A: Noah for being very well organised and bringing back his homework on time every week. Grade 4 E : Thomas for working well in the kitchen during cooking with the gr 1 /2 children. Grade 2/3 G: Emelia for showing great resilience and consideration when solving a problem. Grade 1/2 H : Jordan for showing persistence in the classroom by staying on task and getting tasks completed. Grade Prep H : Freya for being an organised and helpful student. RCH COIN LINE 2015 Last year we excelled in our Coin Line efforts for the Royal Children s Hospital. This year we aim to do even better! We hold the coin line event on the last Friday of term 1 Please start collecting coins now for this wonderful cause. SCHOOL UNIFORMS School uniforms are now available from Steer Clothing in Baker Street, Wangaratta. All uniforms must display the school logo. The school will continue to hold a small supply for parents who have difficulty getting to Wangaratta during business hours. As we are a Sun Smart school, children must wear the wide brimmed hats. These are available from the school office for $15.00 EASTER RAFFLE Parents Club will organise an Easter Raffle of Easter egg hampers. (This will be drawn at the end of term assembly.) Families are asked to donate Easter goods for this purpose. Donations may be left at the school office. LOST PROPERTY Has your child lost a jacket, a pair of bathers, a towel or even a pair of shoes? Have you looked in the Lost Property box in the main assembly area (just inside the door to the right.)

3 ASC BOOKINGS INDONESIAN Reminder to parents of children booked into After School Care: Should alternative arrangements be made (eg play dates with friends, other people collecting your child) please contact the school to let us know. It saves time looking for children who have left the school! LOST FROSTY THE SNOWMAN Well not actually Frosty! But the CD of Frosty the Snowman from one of our book kits from the school library. The book (kit) was probably loaned our late last year and the song CD has been left in the player at home. If you have the Frosty CD can you please return it to the library or office. Thank you. Students will perform at 2pm on Tuesday 24th March. Each grade has been practising for this cultural activity. All students know what they need to bring by next Tuesday. Parent help in dressing students would be appreciated at lunchtime on the 24th. Terima kasih, Ibu Ellet. Mr Robson will be adding a fortnightly note alongside our teachers from Indonesian, Music and Science under the Whole School Updates blog page. 4 AFTER SCHOOL CARE Bookings for After School Care may be made through the school office or write your child s name in the small diary on the office bench. Afternoon tea is provided so prior notice to the day of care is preferred. Please notify the school of cancellations to bookings or charges may apply. Staff: Annette Remember this program is flexible and can change at any time. Free choice provided everyday: games, activities from the OSHC cupboard, colouring / individual scrapbooks. As requested by parents, a homework table is set aside for children. Some of the things that make them proud of Glenrowan Primary School included : Listening in class Doing their best at Bluearth Being nice to each other and Looking after our equipment. The Wangaratta Dragons Hockey Club is having another come and try evening. This being Tuesday March the 16th from pm at the Bill Eaton Oval on Appin Street, Wangaratta.
