Product Focus Good reasons to use Check out our new technology to see why SEAJET gives you the edge... SEAJET s winning Anti-fouling performance in tests around the world, shows how effective our technology is. Our anti-fouling technology is slightly slower polishing than many other technologies. This means it is sui for both yachts and motorboats. The ultimate anti-fouling - SEAJET 039 PLATINUM SEAJET 039 PLATINUM is based on patented new resin technology from Japan and offers the ultimate performance. It is like nothing else available on the market because we have managed to perfect the control of the selfpolishing mechanism. This means SEAJET 039 PLATINUM can last for longer, for two seasons or more*, to reduce your yearly painting. Advantages include: New patented SPC (Self-Polishing Copolymer) resin gives ultimate performance against fouling Offers the equivalent performance to the now banned, TBT SPCs (tri-butyl tin self-polishing copolymer) anti-fouling Apply extra coats for protection for two years and beyond Sui for the highest fouling areas for all types of boat (excluding aluminium boats) Perfect for serious racers, superyachts and blue water cruisers or those who will not settle for less For aluminium boats and pure bright colours, please use SEAJET 034 EMPEROR (2 years performance) *Depending on location Self-polishing biocide free - SEAJET 036 SHOGUN-ECO SEAJET 036 SHOGUN-ECO is based on the latest self-polishing technology from Japan. It is sui for yachts and motorboats up to 25 knots. The colours are pure and bright as the formulation contains no Copper. SEAJET 036 SHOGUN-ECO will last for 1 season. Advantages include: Latest self-polishing technology, no film buildup (self smoothing) Colours are pure and bright Biocide free Can be applied all substrates including aluminium Recommended by the world's yachting press products are part of Chugoku Marine Paints Ltd (CMP). With over 90 years experience, CMP are one of world s oldest and most respected manufacturers of marine paint and antifoul systems. In recent times, various yachting press worldwide have discovered how well SEAJET products work when compared equally alongside competitor products. Widespread success via independent press tests & editorial reports have contributed significantly towards the growth and popularity of products amongst end-users. Motor Boats Monthly, February Month test result on the leading brands. Gaining 4 out of 5 ticks 033 Shogun was once again placed extremely highly in Motor Boat Monthly s major group test of 12 different anti-foul products, as published within their February 2012 issue. 039 Platinum was also highly regarded but on this occasion it was Shogun that appeared to work best when the journalist said in his closing statement: s reliable 033 Shogun offers superb protection up to speeds of 40 knots. 039 Platinum tested in Motorboat & Yachting, December Platinum was independently tested by the editor of Motorboat & Yachting magazine recently and was given a rating of 5 out of 5 stars for performance. Please see a copy of his report within the December 2012 issue on our website. 13 month test in Motorboat & Yachting, September 2011 Following a recent test conducted by Motorboat & Yachting magazine in the UK, s 034 Emperor has performed well after 13 months immersion. As reported on page 99 from the September 2011 issue, the journalist remarked on no lack of speed from his boat and apart from some slime build-up, he considered Emperor a very good soft anti-fouling and awarded the product a 5 out of 5 star rating. Pellerclean recommended in Sailing Today, July 2011 UK based yachting journalist Nick Vass, who writes a monthly Questions & Answers section in Sailing Today RECOMMENDED magazine, often recommends products because he knows they work so well. Read his latest recommendation to one reader about using Pellerclean, our propeller and stern gear anti-foul product, in the July 2011 issue of Sailing Today. Classic Boat, March 2010 Varnish Products - Major Group Test UV and Polyurethane two-pack varnish products both received a Pass. After 18 months exposure both products were totally intact on surface and all four edges - retains a high gloss. Practical Boat Owner, March 2009, SEAJET one of the top 3 Anti-fouling Brands in UK The magazine tested all kinds of brands and as they say SEAJET belongs within the Top 3 of the UK. 4 Innovative Technology Protect the environment and go faster! Did you know that the Japanese are leading the world in developing high performance antifouling paints? With the resources of Chugoku Marine Paints, SEAJET products provide you with the cutting edge technology for you to improve the appearance and performance of your boat. We research many formulations to bring you the best. The above is one of our test raft facilities for anti-foulings. SEAJET Paint offers two 'Foul release' products: SEAJET Speed for the hull SEAJET Peller Clean for propellers, inboards, outboards and stern gear. Unlike anti-foulings, which use toxic agents in the paint to keep fouling off the hull, these products use silicone to provide an ultra slippy surface, that fouling finds it difficult to adhere to. We call these Foul-Release Coatings. Fouling normally washes off the non-stick, slippy surface when you are motoring or sailing. For inactive boats and those cruising below 5 knots, a quick wash or sponge off will remove any fouling and make the coating look like new. Are you a racer? The added benefit is for motorboats and serious sailboat racers. Clin d'oeil Environment Award (Paris 2002) A sophisticated rotor test simulates the movement of the boat. It is due to our high level of commitment to research that SEAJET 033 SHOGUN has won many of the independent tests. SEAJET 039 PLATINUM provides a jump in performance, even compared to SEAJET 033 SHOGUN. This is due to our unique, patented new resin technology, which makes the selfpolishing mechanism so predic over time that we can apply SEAJET 039 PLATINIUM to protect for two years or more (depending on the location of the boat)

Products Compared to other anti-foulings, SEAJET SPEED has a lower frictional resistance through the water. This can help provide that extra bit of speed required to win! Do you hate repainting each year? SEAJET SPEED will last up to three seasons. The higher initial cost of paint is soon paid back compared to a normal high performance anti-fouling, which is repainted every year. And you save all that time and effort! Does your propeller foul? Then use our transparent PELLER CLEAN (containing SEAJET SPEED) to keep fouling at bay. With PELLER CLEAN, you can now protect your boat from fouling and be kind to marine life. 10 F.A.Q. Frequently Asked Questions How much paint should I use? For the underwater system please check page number 52 How much paint to use. For the above water systems, please check the technical datasheets. The coverage rate is mentioned there. When is a paint system in bad condition? In bad condition means when the paint system is showing blisters, cracks or is just peeling of. When is a paint system in a good condition? In good condition means when the paint system is not showing blisters, cracks or is just peeling of. During application of varnish, do I have to abrade between the layers? When the overcoating time is expended you have to abrade before applying the next coat (2-Component product). To get a glass-like finish we recommend abrading (P320-P400) between the layers. How should I remove dust from the surface? For the underwater hull please wash the hull with fresh water and let it dry. For the topside, please use pressurized air and use a tack rack to remove all small dust particals. What should I do when the overcoating interval has expired? Please abrade the surface with P180-P240 in all cases. After that you can follow the instructions on the label. How should I remove the existing paint system to the Epoxy coating or even the Gelcoat? To remove a complete paint system, please use abrasive paper or a chemical paint stripper. In some cases you can even blast the complete system off. Please use a professional blasting company. Please note that Antifouling should always be WET sanded. How should I thin the Varnish to get a gloss finish? UV Varnish: 1st coat 50% Thinner U - 2nd coat 25% Thinner U - 3rd coat 10% Thinner U - 4th coat 0% Thinner U. In case where the existing coating is in a good condition, 2 coats are needed to make it look like new. Please use 0-10% thinner. Is compatible with my existing Antifouling? The good news is that Antifouling and underwater coatings are compatible with practically all types of Antifouling. We recommend to use coat of SEAJET 011 on unknown systems or for the over coating on hard or insoluble Antifouling from the matrix type. Teflon based Antifouling can be over coated, except VC17M, this has to be removed completely. Which preparation is required? Briefly on the underwater hull, the existing paint and possible bare primer must be light wet sanded. Apply touch-ups with recommended primer. Check if the applied paint is compatible with the existing Antifouling, sometimes a sealer coat of is required. Above the waterline, sand until the surface is matt and remove dust before you apply Varnish or Brilliance Topcoat. Read the detailed instructions for more information. 13 Guidance Why use Anti-fouling? Anti-fouling your boat is never much fun, especially in winter. But it's important if you want to keep your boat's bottom clean. The seas around our coasts contain a mass of rudimentary animal and plant life forms, all competing for somewhere to live and grow. Known as plankton, these tiny organisms include the larvae of literally billions of barnacles, mussels and other sea creatures, together with seaweed spores from all around the world. Plankton is most concentrated around our coasts, and in harbours and estuaries, where agricultural run off and water from sewage treatment works provides a richsource of food on which these organisms can thrive. Indeed, plankton is often dense enough to be visible during the day, and can sometimes be seen glowing on really dark nights. Everything in the sea is bathed in this 'soup' of living matter, and can become badly fouled within just a few weeks unless protected by an effective antifouling. But apart from looking unsightly, heavy fouling makes your boat dangerously slow and difficult to manoeuvre in an emergency; which is no fun in heavy weather. And as if that's not bad enough, wooden craft can suffer expensive damage from the dreaded marine borers Teredo and Gribble, which can reduce hardwood planking to a pulp in just a few months. All of these problems can be avoided by painting your boat with a top quality antifouling: so you can always be sure of maximum speed, minimum fuel consumption and good handling all through the season. SEAJET 033 SHOGUN, 034 EMPEROR and 039 PLATINUM Self-polishing Anti-fouling are the ideal Anti-fouling for glass fibre, wood and steel, and can be used at speeds of up to 40 knots! In fact, motor boats owners who've traditionally used hard racing anti-fouling will find that SEAJET 033 SHOGUN, 034 EMPEROR and 039 PLATINUM give better results throughout the season without wearing through. And SEAJET has been shown to be highly effective in all climates; from Norway, where it was voted Best Buy by two influential boating magazines, to the warm waters of the Caribbean, where it's become one of the most popular brands. How does the SEAJET Self Polishing mechanism work? SEAJET033 SHOGUN, 034 EMPEROR and 039 PLATINUM are selfpolishing (or eroding) anti-foulings, which react with seawater to give optimum performance all through the sailing season. Within just hours of launching, this novel anti-fouling starts to dissolve from the outside, releasing biocide into the water at a carefully controlled rate. But there's much more to it than this. The movement of water actually helps to smooth the surface, and constantly exposing a fresh layer of biocide to the outside world. So that Anti-foulings work just as well at the end of the season as it does at the beginning. SEAJET Anti-foulings are also eco-friendly; so you can be sure that it protects the environment as well as your boat. Eventually though, most of the anti-fouling polishes away, and has to be replaced. The advanced self-polishing mechanism of SEAJET 033 SHOGUN, 034 EMPEROR and 039 PLATINUM Anti-foulings mean that only two coats are required for two years protection

Guidance preparation s to be painted must be clean, dry and free from oil or grease. Apart from being safer, the lubricating action of the water means that the job won't take as long as you might expect. Priming the underwater hull On bare and filled areas, you'll need to apply touch-ups of primer to ensure good adhesion Applying Anti-fouling If possible, apply your antifouling during late morning or early afternoon in calm, dry weather. Bare surfaces must first be primed with a sui priming scheme, filling between coats with an epoxy profiling filler to make good any undulations. Existing anti-foulings don't usually need any special preparation, but they can be lightly wet sanded to remove small lumps and 'blebs' in the paintwork. Propellers can be cleaned with a power drill and wire brush to give a smooth polished finish. The copper in bronze propellers usually keeps most fouling atbay, but a couple of coats of Peller Clean or SEAJET 034 anti-fouling can be used in areas where heavy fouling is a problem. Finally, wash everything down to remove dust. of the following coats. For a high performance epoxy primer, use SEAJET Epoxy Primers. This is particularly recommended when all the existing paint is removed and full coats of the primer system are required. SEAJET Multipurpose Epoxy Primer is also designed to seal prepared gel coat on glassfibre boats and is ideal for using on metal keels. Don't antifoul too late in the day, especially when skies are clear, as the rapid fall in temperature will encourage overnight dew, which will spoil your newly applied paint. moisture when painting will also cause loss of adhesion and peeling. Apply a good quality masking tape around the waterline, and mask off anodes, shafts and Anti-foulings must never be dry sanded or burnt off with hot air strippers, as even at the end of a season they will contain toxic chemicals. So wet sanding with fresh water is the only safe way. However, for small areas of touch up, or if a single component primer is preferred, apply SEAJET 011 Underwater Primer. Observe the correct over coating intervals between each coat - this information is on the tin. Use a brush for fittings to protect them from unwanted antifouling. small areas or a roller for large areas. But will SEAJET anti-fouling be compatible with any anti-fouling that is already on your hull? In most cases it will be. However, there are certain Teflon based anti-foulings, which need to be removed beforehand. If you don't know what anti-fouling was last used or if the condition of the antifoul is not ideal, the best solution is to apply a full sealer coat of SEAJET 011 Underwater Primer on your boat. This will give good adhesion to the Preparing the following coats. Applying primer

Remember to use the recommended quantity of antifouling or it may not last the season! Apply an extra coat to leading edges......and the waterline

Painting above the waterline Topcoats SEAJET topcoats are designed to protect your boat against the elements and keep her looking like new. Where conventional alkyd paints can soon fade and need repainting regularly, SEAJET topcoats provide a longer term solution. The main benefit is that you need to paint less frequently than when using conventional paints. This is due to: Improved gloss retention Improved colour retention Improved resistance to UV light A tougher, harder surface which is more Note: Repainting interval depends upon the ambient sunlight, which varies around the world. For the Caribbean and Mediterranean, reduce the above figures by half. So how do we tackle the painting work? Firstly, you'll need to wear the right clothing. Painting can be a messy job, so you'll need old clothes or a pair of overalls; rubber gloves; and a hat. We also recommend that you wear a pair of safety glasses. TIP: Don't paint while wearing a woolly sweater or hat - as the fibres will get onto the paintwork. preparation Preparation is the key. Good surface preparation will result in a beautiful finish. So take your time. Loose paint should be removed by scraping back to a sound substrate. Larger areas can be dealt with by slurry blasting or mechanical sanding. Chemical paint strippers should never be used on glass fibre, as they will quickly destroy the protective gel coat. Use SEAJET Thinner to remove any grease spots. Then wash and degrease with cleaner. Sanding is required to obtain a smooth surface and key the surface. s to be painted must be clean, dry and free of oil or grease. Existing paints need to be sanded to remove small lumps and 'blebs' in the paintwork. Flatten back with P180-P280 abrasive paper. Finally, brush off dust and use lint free tack rags to remove remaining traces of dust. Preparation can vary depending on the surface to be coated, so follow our painting specification for specific details of preparation. resistant to knocks and scratches You'll also need a few basic tools, including a scraper for scraping off any loose paint; some Comparison for Northern Europe wet or dry paper and sanding blocks to key Conventional Topcoats - the surface by sanding down; and brushes Repainting is required after 1-2 years or a roller for putting your new paint on. And SEAJET UV VARNISH - don't forget some masking tape to mask off the Repainting necessary after 2-3 years. waterline. SEAJET BRILLIANCE TOPCOAT - Repainting is required after 3-5 years (or longer). SEAJET 132 POLYURETHANE TOPCOAT - Repainting is required after 5-10 years

Painting above the waterline Priming, Filling and Undercoating Bare surfaces must first be primed with our recommended priming scheme. This can be different for different surfaces, so please consult our paint specifications for primer recommendations. Fill and fair between coats with an epoxy profiling filler to make good any undulations or damage. We recommend using SEAJET SPEED FILLER for small patch repairs. Consult professionals for larger repairs. Apply the filler with a spatula, making sure the spatula used is twice as wide as the hole to be filled. This reduces low spots. You can sand after only 2 hours, using grade abrasive sand paper. Repeat if required for a perfectly smooth surface. You can overcoat SEAJET SPEED FILLER with any SEAJET primer or topcoat. topcoats can be applied directly to existing paint or fibre glass. First rubdown to remove any imperfections using 280 then 320 abrasive paper. However to obtain a uniform and consistent colour, an undercoat is recommended. This also acts to seal the filler and prevents moisture being absorbed. SEAJET UNIVERSAL PRIMER UNDERCOAT should be applied and then flattened back using 320 grade abrasive paper. TIPS: Two coats of undercoat will give an even better finish. Stir thoroughly before use with a flat blade or stirring stick. Remove sanding dust with a brushand then a lint free tack rag. Applying the Finish Coat Whereas a typical conventional paint will last for 1-2 years before repainting, our high performance topcoats will keep your boat looking like new for longer: For ease of application, our finishes are one component and can be applied to any prepared surface. For best results, apply using a short haired roller and layoff with a long haired, high quality, soft bristled brush. Use a criss-cross pattern and always finish the last stroke in the same direction. Flatten back between coats using abrasive paper. Two or preferably three coats will give a long lasting finish. TIPS: Make sure you pick a dry day. Preferably paint in the morning to avoid evening condensation settling on the surface. You can dampen the ground underneath the boat to avoid dust rising
