One of Utah s 10 largest cities, Taylorsville is eight miles south of the Salt Lake International Airport and 15 minutes southwest of downtown Salt Lake City. Two convenient Freeway Interchanges provide easy access to I-15, I-80, and I-215. This location places Taylorsville in the geographic center of it all one of the city s greatest assets. In any direction one finds great recreational and cultural amenities that support a high quality of life. The City s thriving business climate and excellent employers augment the exceptional quality of life. Construction Building Boom During the past quarter, the City s building permit valuation numbers were the highest since the City s 1996 incorporation one of several measures indicating that Taylorsville is bucking the current downward economic trends and all signs suggest that this will continue during Recent local media headlines highlight Taylorsville s current economic growth: Economic development opportunities abound in Taylorsville (Taylorsville/Kearns Journal) Taylorsville s up in down times (Salt Lake Tribune) Taylorsville bucks gloom, enjoys a building boom (Deseret News) Taylorsville businesses enjoy boom in tough times (ABC 4 News) Taylorsville is very fortunate to have experienced positive growth during recent downward economic trends. New projects in the pipeline will add 600 to 1,000 jobs to the Taylorsville economy, said Keith Snarr, Economic Development Director. vibrant Community Today, Taylorsville is a vibrant community with nearly 62,000 residents. The estimated market population within a five-mile radius is 390,301. As a result, several new businesses have constructed or expanded their facilities in Taylorsville this past year: Aloha Auto Spa, 2192 W South, car wash with self-service bays America First Credit Union, 2715 W South 7,400 sf ($2M) South by Pangaea Development Center Pointe Plaza, 6577 S. Redwood Road, 35,995 sf Class A Office building ($3.7) Crown Car Wash, 1853 W South, drive-through wash with bays for detailing service Gold Medallion Homes - new office building, 6150 S. Redwood Road ($1.7M) Legacy Memory Care and Rehabilitation Facility, 3269 W 5400 S, 87 units, 60,000 sf ($8M) Mariscos Ensenada, 4855 S. Redwood Road Utah State Liquor Store renovation and expansion, 3905 West 5400 South. We welcome these new businesses to the City of Taylorsville. 2 High Tech Businesses Expanding Market niches that thrive in Taylorsville include high tech and medical related businesses, customer service businesses, and facilities that provide state-of-the art products and services for the deaf and hard of hearing. Abundant evidence of growth includes Nelson Laboratories, 6280 South Redwood Road, who have embarked on a 50,000 square foot, $14 million building expansion that will bring 185 new employees. The Unified State Laboratory, 4501 South 2700 West, is a new 81,000 square foot building that will add 230 employees. The State of Utah is building this facility at a cost of $31 million. The new Sorenson Research Building VIII at 4215 South Riverboat Road will provide 78,400 square feet for the expansion of Sorenson Communications. Legacy Memory Care and Rehabilitation Facility will add 87 assisted care units at their $8 million, 60,000 square foot complex under construction at 3269 West 5400 South. In addition, Great Harvest Bread Company will relocate soon to their new 11,645 square foot retail strip mall at 6357 South Redwood Road, being built at a cost of nearly $1 million.
