1 TABLE TENNIS 1. Rules 1.1 According to the Laws/Rules established by the latest rules and regulations of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and as directed by the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) 1.2 Governed by the SNG 2016 General Rules and Regulations. 2. Eligibility & Registration S/No Category Clarification 1 Age 12 & Under Born year 2004 and after. 2 Age 15 & Under Born year 2001 and after. 3 Open No age restriction. 4 Male Masters (40 & above) Born year 1976 and before. 5 Male Masters (55 & above) Born year 1961 and before. 6 Female Masters (35 & above) Born year 1981 and before. 3. Event 4.1 The list of events shall be as follows: S/N Event 1 Boys Singles 12 & below 2 Girls Singles 12 & below 3 Boys Singles 15 & below 4 Girls Singles 15 & below 5 Men s Singles Open 6 Women s Singles Open 7 Men s Singles Masters 40 & above 8 Men s Singles Masters 55 & above 9 Women s Singles Masters 35 & above 10 Men s Open Team Event 11 Women s Open Team Event 4.2 Competition Format Stage 1 Entries will be drawn and grouped into groups of 3 to 4 (depending on the final entries received) for each event Matches will be played in a group round robin format, all matches to be decided by either best of 3 or best of 5 games of 11 points. Top 2 from each group will then progress into Stage 2 Stage 2 Top 2 from each group will then be drawn into a single elimination format to determine the winners All Matches are to be decided by best of 5 games The group final ranking (ladder standing position) shall be determined by the number of matches/ties won. However in the event of a tie, the following shall apply (in sequence) to determine the winner: i) Match score win/loss ratio ii) Games win/loss ratio iii) iv) Points win/loss ratio If standings are still tied after the first 3 tabulation, the winner will be decided by lots. 4.3 Players are allowed to participate in only 1 individual event and a team event. 3 4.4 Team Event Updated as at 14 July 2016 Team event shall consist of 3 matches, 2 Singles and 1 Doubles and the match order as follows: S/No Match Order 1 Singles Open 2 Doubles Open 3 Singles Open Team must register a minimum of 4 players and maximum of 5 players Players are not allowed to repeat Team may field only 1 x Foreigner in the Team Line Up In Stage 1, all matches will be played whereas in Stage 2, match will end when a team has won 2 out of 3 matches. 5. Prize Money and Medals 5.1 Medals and Prize monies will be awarded to the top 3 winners of each events with at least 4 participants/teams. 5.2 In team events, the Champion team will receive a trophy. 5.3 Only Medals will be awarded when entries are below 4 participants/team. 5.4 If there are only 3 participants for the event, minus 1 rule applies, ie only 1st & 2nd will be awarded with medal but no prize money. If there are less than 4 participants/teams, they may choose 1 of the following options: Option 1 Participants may withdraw and receive a full refund Option 2 Participants may continue with the competition but will not be eligible for prize money. Medals will be awarded based on the minus 1 rule. Option 3 Participants may opt to join another category which they are eligible. 5.5 Joined 3rd Placing: Prize money to be awarded but divided by 2 shared-winners. 5.6 Details of Prize Money will be published on SNG 2016 official website on a later date. 4 6. Walkover Team Event A team shall concede a walkover under the following circumstances: - If the official team line up is not submitted 20 minutes prior a scheduled match - If player/s for the individual match category do not report for the match on court within 5 minutes of match announcement. Individual Event Participant(s) shall concede a walkover if they fail to be present on court within 5 minutes when the match is called to play. 7. Supplementary Rules 7.1 The ITTF approved 3-Star 40+ mm white balls shall be used during the Tournament. No white apparels or clothing (shirt and shorts) are allowed. Players who fail to conform shall be disqualified. 7.2 The Prize Presentation Ceremony shall be held soon after the finals of the events. All prize winners MUST be present personally at the ceremony in neat attire (no singlet, slippers and sandals) in order to receive the prize. Failing which, the Organizing Committee reserves the right not to award the medal and trophy. 7.1 Payment for registration will be closed on 15 July Team Managers Briefing and Draw will be on 23 July 2016, 5pm to 8pm at Toa Payoh Sports Centre.
