TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY Prepare for School Mass by going over the Readings School Mass Read page in student text Have students practice using class room bibles Find: New Testament, Old Testament Book, Chapter, Verse FAITH WORDS The Bible is also called Sacred Scripture. There are readings from Scripture at Mass. The New Testament begins with a Gospel. The word Gospel means good news. FRIDAY Saint of the Week Prayer to the Holy Spirit Come, Holy Spirit, Renew the hearts of the faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created; and you will renew the face of the earth. Amen. Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and obey it. Luke 11:28 The Bible is a special book. Another name for the Bible is Sacred Scriptures. Stories in the Bible tell us how God loves and care for us. Some stories tell us about Jesus and his friends. God choose many different people to write the Bible. As Catholic s we believe that the Bible is the word of God.

FAITH WORDS A Christian is a person who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ. The Communion of Saints are all the members living and dead who are part of the Catholic Church. A Petition Prayer for God s Church Leader: Saint Paul said, that as members of the Church we are like one body, working together. All: Guide us, Lord, in remaining an apostolic, faithful Church. Leader: Many hands are needed to help build Christ s Church. All: Help us, Lord, to be active members of the Church. Leader: Jesus said that to help the Church grow, we must live together in love. Let us pray: All: O Lord, help us live with each other in peace and love. Amen. Scripture- Saint Paul s Message Ephesians 4:1-6 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. FAITH WORDS The Sacraments are the most special celebrations of the Church. They are signs and symbols of God s love for us. Faith is belief in God. Disciples are friends and followers of Jesus. Sacraments of Christian Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. We begin our life as members of the Catholic Church through these Sacraments.

We are all part of God s family. Jesus teaches us to love our neighbor as well as those who are our enemies. TUESDAY Prepare for School Mass by going over the Readings WEDNESDAY School Mass THURSDAY Read pages student text book Discussion: As members of God s family, whom are we supposed to love? (everyone) How do family members help each other when someone has a problem? (answers may vary) FAITH WORDS The Christian family is the domestic church. This is where children first learn about God and prayer. FRIDAY Saint of the Week The Domestic Church CCC 1657 It is here that the father of the family, the mother, children and all members of the family exercise the priesthood of the baptized in a privileged way by the reception of the sacraments, prayer, and thanksgiving, the witness of a holy life, and self-denial and active charity. Thus the home is the first school of Christian life and a school for human enrichment. Here one learns endurance and the joy of work, fraternal love, generous-even repeated forgiveness, and above all divine worship in prayer and the offering of one s life.

FAITH WORDS Hallowed means holy. name is holy. God s Trespasses are our sins or wrong doings. Kingdom of God is the peace, love, and justice that all God s people will share at the end of time. CONFESSION Prayers We confess our sins seeking God s mercy. Admitting we have a need for God. THANKSGIVING Prayers Thanking God for all he has done (or will do) for us, all He means to us. We should always be thankful, even for the little things. SUPPLICATION Prayers (or petition prayer) Making petitions or requests to God. Asking for God's help.
