1 Ranch High School Washoe County School District Rio Wrangler Parkway Denise Hausauer, Principal Reno, NV Grade Levels: Ph: , Fax: Website: School Accountability Report For more information visit Mission Statement The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century. Principal's Highlights We offer comprehensive academics, performing arts (PAC), and athletic programs as we continue to "Educate, Empower, and Inspire" through the cultivation of relationships of our students. DR earned a 4 Star rating for the school year and continues to show an increased trend in student success and graduation rates. Our principal was named the Nevada Music Educator Administrator of the Year and our teacher was chosen as the FBLA Advisor of the Year. A DR teacher received the Class Nobel Educator of Distinction award. DR recognized its third National Merit Scholar semi-finalist. DR recognized its first published playwright as well as two teachers who have published novels this school year. DR was first overall at the Sierra Band Crusade, capturing the Governor's Cup Award two years in a row as "The Best Marching Band in Nevada". A DR student received the National Aspiration in Computing award from the National Center for Women in Information and Technology (NCWIT). Twenty-seven students were recognized at the annual Scholastic Art Awards, receiving either silver or gold key awards. An English teacher became Nationally Board Certified for the Ranch Mustangs. School Communication Efforts Goals and Objectives Goal 1 Increase rigor throughout the curriculum including increasing AP enrollment and pass rates on exams. Objective(s): Ranch High School will increase overall AP enrollment to 60% and overall AP performance to 39% for the school year. Goal 2 Increase the graduation rate and freshman credit attainment, with a focus on at-risk populations - Hispanic, LEP, and IEP students. Objective(s): DR will increase its overall graduation rate to 88%, its Hispanic graduation rate to 81%, LEP rate to 33% and its IEP graduation rate to 22%. DR will also increase its overall freshman credit attainment to 96% and LEP freshman credit attainment to 80%. Goal 3 Increase the level of respect and civic responsibility throughout the DR community. Objective(s): Ranch High School will increase the level of respect by 2% as determined by the WCSD climate survey data; maintain or exceed the 95% attendance rate; increase positive behaviors by decreasing the number of documented referrals by 2% for the school year. There are several tools used to inform parents on a regular basis which include newsletters, ConnectEd-an animated phone dialer, Infinite Campus-which provides academic progress and attendance, and our school website-which provides grade level To do lists with pertinent names, numbers, and information. Parents are invited to attend numerous performing arts and athletic venues, and parent/teacher information opportunities. It continues to be a goal to be proactive in communicating and partnering with parents. A parent boosters group meets monthly and collaborates with the principal on strategies to support parents, students, and teachers. Boosters recruit throughout the year and play an active role in providing families with monthly meetings regarding important information about their child's school. They work hard at listening to the voice of our parent community, and as a result, bring informative venues to educate, empower, and inspire our families. Other parent functions include an Ice Cream Social, Open House, AP Night, committee membership positions and parent/teacher/student conferences. We value family partnerships and will continue to listen to our parents in the future to work together for their child's success. Website: Page 1 of 6
