Page 7 Warnings WARNING NEVER USE THIS BOOSTER SEAT IN A VE- HICLE FRONT FACING SEATING POSITION EQUIPPED WITH AN AIR BAG. AIR BAGS MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES OR DEATH TO CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER. Please refer to your vehicle s owner manual for information about air bags and the booster seat installation.
Page 8 Warnings WARNING NO BOOSTER SEAT CAN GUARANTEE PROTEC- TION FROM INJURY. HOWEVER, PROPER USE OF THIS BOOSTER SEAT REDUCES THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO YOUR CHILD. Follow all instructions on this booster seat and in the written instructions. DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THIS BOOSTER SEAT UNTIL YOU READ AND UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS MANUAL AND IN YOUR VEHICLE OWNER S MANUAL. DO NOT let others install or use the booster seat unless they understand how to use it. FAILURE TO PROPERLY USE THIS BOOSTER SEAT INCREASES THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJU- RY OR DEATH IN A SHARP TURN, SUDDEN STOP OR CRASH. Your child can be injured in a vehicle even if you are not in a crash. Sudden braking and sharp turns can injure your child if the booster seat is not properly installed or if your child is not properly secured in the booster seat.
Page 9 According to accident statistics, CHILDREN ARE SAFER WHEN PROPERLY RESTRAINED IN THE REAR SEATING POSITIONS THAN IN THE FRONT SEATING POSITIONS. For a vehicle with a front passenger air bag, refer to your vehicle owner s manual as well as these instructions for booster seat installation. NEVER LEAVE YOUR CHILD UNATTENDED. ALWAYS assist your child when getting into and out of their booster seat. NEVER let your child lean on the armrest when getting into or exiting the booster seat to prevent the seat from tipping. DO NOT allow children to play with this booster seat. NEVER LEAVE A BOOSTER SEAT UNSECURED IN YOUR VEHICLE. An unsecured booster seat can be thrown around and may injure occupants in a sharp turn, sudden stop or crash. Remove it or make sure that it is securely belted in the vehicle. REPLACE THE BOOSTER SEAT AFTER AN ACCIDENT OF ANY KIND. An accident can cause damage to the booster seat that you cannot see. DO NOT MODIFY YOUR BOOSTER SEAT or use any accessories or parts supplied by other manufacturers. NEVER USE BOOSTER SEAT IF IT HAS DAMAGE OR IS MISSING PARTS. DO NOT use a cut, frayed or damaged vehicle seat belt. THE BOOSTER SEAT CAN BECOME VERY HOT IF LEFT IN THE SUN. Contact with these parts can burn your child s skin. Always touch the surface of any metal or plastic parts before putting your child in the booster seat.
Page 10 THIS CHILD RESTRAINT CONFORMS to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and is certified for use in motor vehicles. This restraint is NOT certified for use in aircraft because there is no shoulder belt available on airplanes. NEVER GIVE THIS BOOSTER SEAT to someone else without also giving them this manual. NEVER USE A SECOND-HAND BOOSTER SEAT or a booster seat whose history you do not know. This booster seat IS NOT compatible with vehicle childrestraint anchorage systems (LATCH). Use ONLY the vehicle s lap-and-shoulder-belt system when restraining a child in this booster seat. DO NOT use this booster seat with two-point vehicle belts (lap belt only or shoulder-belt only). Your child would be seriously injured in the event of a crash. DO NOT USE BOOSTER SEAT without seat cover. DO NOT use anything to raise the booster seat off the vehicle seat. Store the booster seat in a safe place when not in use. Do not place heavy objects on top of the booster seat while in storage.
Page 11 Weight and Height Limits WARNING FAILURE TO USE booster seat in a manner appropriate for your child s size may increase the of serious injury or death. To use this booster seat your child MUST meet ALL of the following requirements: Booster Configuration Weight Height When using WITH the Back When using WITHOUT Back lbs. (14 50 kg) lbs. (18 50 kg) inches ( cm) inches ( cm) Shoulder belt MUST lie across child s shoulders in red zone and the lap portion is positioned low on the child s hips. DO NOT USE this child restraint if the top of your child s ears are above the top of the vehicle s seat back or child restraint s headrest.
Page 12 Vehicle Seat Location Requirements WARNING IMPROPER PLACEMENT OF THE BOOSTER SEAT INCREASES THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. Some seating positions in your vehicle may NOT be safe for this booster seat. Some vehicles do not have any seating positions that can be used safely with the booster seat. If you are not sure where to place the booster seat in your vehicle, consult your vehicle owner s manual. Children are safer when properly restrained in rear vehicle seating positions. Only use this booster seat in forward-facing vehicle seats. Sidefacing or rear facing seats in vans, station wagons or trucks CANNOT be used.
Page 13 DO NOT leave folding vehicle seats unlatched. In the event of a sudden stop, a loose seat back could prevent the booster seat from protecting the child as well as it should. Use this booster seat only on vehicle seats with backs that lock into place. When using this booster seat, the headrest on the vehicle seat that the child faces should be put in its lowest position. The vehicle seat back that the child faces must be fully padded and free of any hard objects. NEVER USE THIS BOOSTER SEAT IN A VEHICLE FRONT FACING SEATING POSITION EQUIPPED WITH AN AIR BAG. AIR BAGS INFLATE WITH GREAT FORCE AND MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES OR DEATH TO CHILDREN 12 YEARS OF AGE AND YOUNGER. Please refer to your vehicle s owner manual for information about air bags and the booster seat installation. DO NOT use this restraint in a vehicle seating position equipped with a side air bag unless authorized by vehicle manufacturer.
Page 14 Vehicle Seat Belt Requirements WARNING MANY SEAT BELT SYSTEMS ARE NOT SAFE TO USE WITH THE BOOSTER SEAT. Pay careful attention to these systems; some of the seat belts that are NOT safe to use look very much like seat belts that are safe to use. If you are unsure, consult your vehicle owner s manual. SAFE vehicle seat belt system ONLY A LAP/ SHOULDER BELT SYSTEM CAN BE USED WITH THIS BOOSTER SEAT IF, the seat location meets all other requirements of these instructions and those in your vehicle owner s manual.
Page 15 Unsafe Vehicle Seat Belt Requirements DO NOT USE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING VEHICLE BELT SYSTEMS NEVER use a lap-only belt NEVER use a Passive Restraint-Lap or Shoulder Belt Mounted on a Door NEVER use a Passive Restraint-Lap Belt with a Motorized Shoulder Belt. NEV- ER use vehicle belts that are attached to the door in any way or that move along a track to automatically surround the passenger when the door is closed
Page 16 Assembling Back Support Note: For no-back models, product is ready to use and there is no assembly that is required. For the 2-in-1 models, the product can be used with the back (install the back support) or with no-back. Step 1. Attach the back support to the base. The bottom of the back support hooks directly onto the bar of the base. Make sure that no part of the seat fabric covering interferes when attaching the back support to the base.
Page 17 Step 2. Once the back support is securely attached to the base, push the back support up as shown in
Page 18 Using Your Booster Seat with Back Support WARNING FAILURE TO PROPERLY SECURE YOUR CHILD AND THE BOOSTER SEAT IN YOUR VEHICLE INCREASES THE RISK OF SERI- OUS INJURY OR DEATH IN THE EVENT OF A SHARP TURN, SUDDEN STOP OR CRASH. NEVER use a vehicle lap -only belt across front of child
Page 19 Place the booster seat firmly against the back of a forward-facing vehicle seat in a position equipped with a vehicle shoulder-and-lap belt. Have your child sit on the booster seat with their back flat against the booster seat. Pull the vehicle belt from the retractor and position the lap belt under BOTH armrest belt guides (as indicated by the arrows), then latch the vehicle belt buckle. Ensure the buckle is secure by gently pulling on it. Position the shoulder belt through the shoulder belt guide on the headrest (see illustration below).
Page 20 The seat belt should cross the child s shoulder and lay across the chest NOT the face or neck. The bottom of the headrest MUST be even with the top of the child s shoulders, and the shoulder belt MUST cross over the child s shoulder and sternum. Adjust head support as necessary. THE LAP BELT PORTION MUST PASS UNDER BOTH ARMRESTS. Booster Seat Positions This booster seat has only one position and does not recline. The back of the booster seat MUST fit tight against the vehicle seat back.
Page 21 Headrest Height Adjustment Your booster seat has seven (7) height adjustments. When adjusting the headrest height, have your child lean forward. Grasp the headrest adjustment handle and pull upwards until the desired height is achieved. Slightly push downwards until you hear a click sound indicating it is locked CLICK
Page 22 Removing the Back Support To use the booster seat without the back support, remove the back support as shown below. Rotate back support downwards Pull back support out of base
Page 23 Using Your Booster Seat with No-Back Place the booster seat firmly against the back of a forwardfacing vehicle seat in a position equipped with a vehicle shoulder-and-lap belt and headrest. Have your child sit on the booster seat with their back flat against the vehicle seat. Pull the vehicle belt from the retractor and position the lap belt under BOTH armrest belt guides (as indicated by the arrows in the illustration below), then latch the vehicle belt buckle. Ensure the buckle is secure by gently pulling on it. Adjust the vehicle belt s shoulder section so that it crosses the chest and center of the child s collar bone.
Page 24 Securing Child in Vehicle with Shoulder Belt Clip When the booster seat is used without the back, the preinstalled shoulder belt clip should be used if the vehicle s shoulder belt lies outside the red zone (as illustrated below).
Page 25 Opening of Shoulder Belt Clip Must Face Forward Slide the vehicle s shoulder belt into the shoulder belt clip ensuring it is flat. Position shoulder belt clip just above child s shoulder (see illustration below). Straps should be tight and not twisted. All slack should be removed from lap and shoulder portions of the vehicle belt to ensure a snug fit. THE LAP BELT PORTION MUST PASS UNDER BOTH ARMRESTS AND BE POSITIONED LOW ON THE HIPS.
