2 Mesuring Exhust Elow Height Mesuring Exhust Elow Height Generl Informtion The height of the exhust elows must e within the dimensions speified to prevent wter intrusion prolems. Instll exhust elow risers, if needed, to otin the proper exhust elow height nd exhust ngle. Risers re limited to mm (8 in.) on ll 8.1 models with emissions ontrol nd without emissions ontrol. Risers re limited to mm (6 in.) on ll 5.7 nd 6.2 models without emissions ontrol. Risers re limited to mm (8 in.) on emissions ontrolled 5.7 L models. Tke mesurements with the ot in the wter nd loded s outlined to simulte the mximum loding onditions likely to e enountered in norml opertion. IMPORTANT: Mesure exhust elow height to the wterline inside of the wter lift muffler (insted of the wter line outside of the ot) on pplitions so equipped. Refer to Wter Lift Muffler. IMPORTANT: Lod distriution reommendtions re the responsiility of the ot mnufturer. Any lod distriution onditions tht will ffet the exhust system must e lerly ommunited to the opertor in the owner's mnul. For exmple, the numer of people tht n e loted on the swim pltform simultneously should e inluded in the mnul, if this ould pose prolem. Mesurements under ll loding onditions must e within the following speifitions. No prototype hulls or light lyup hulls should e onsidered. Any mesurement performed on non prodution ots, prototype hulls, or light lyup hulls ould e inurte nd ould result in produt dmge. All ots tht disply CE ertifition pity plte must use the mximum pity s stted on the CE ertifition pity plte to perform the exhust elow wterline mesurement. All ots tht only disply the US Cost Gurd (USCG) pity plte must use the mximum pity s stted on the USCG pity plte to perform the exhust elow wterline mesurement. For ots tht do not hve pity plte, the mximum pity lod is the numer of persons tht n sit on designted seting plus rgo exluding in spe. Mesurements used for offiil Merury MerCruiser udit t the OEM ot uilder must e performed on urrent prodution ots. No prototype hulls or light lyup hulls will e onsidered for offiil udit purposes. 5 Loding Requirements Mesuring Exhust Elow Height 1. Fill the fuel tnks, fresh wter tnks or holding tnks, llst tnks, nd heter tnks to simulte fully loded ondition. 2. Weights n e used to simulte these lod onditions if desired. Ple weights in the orresponding re for whih the lod is eing repled. Refer to the following onversions. 1 U.S. gllon of wter = 8.3 l. 1 liter of wter = 1 kg 1 U.S. gllon of gsoline = 6 l. 1 liter of gsoline = 0.72 kg 3. For the purpose of MerCruiser wterline height mesurements: One person is equivlent to kg (165 l.) Crgo per person is equivlent to kg (25 l.) 4. Add weight for ny dditionl ot options: extr ttery, ttery hrger, tower, rh, genertor, llst tnks, llst sks, television, rpet, nhor, stereo/entertinment equipment, wsher/dryer, sfe, et. 5. If swim pltform is n option, the swim pltform must e instlled for the wterline height mesurement. Use the following guide to determine the orret swim pltform lod:. Bots less thn 8.84 m (29 ft.) long, not inluding ots tht re 8.84 m (29 ft.) long, must dd the mximum rted swim pltform weight pity to the swim pltform.. Bots less thn 8.84 m (29 ft.) long, not inluding ots tht re 8.84 m (29 ft.) long tht do not hve mximum rted swim pltform weight pity, must dd Kg (400 l.) to the swim pltform.. Bots 8.84 m (29 ft.) long nd greter thn 8.84 m (29 ft.) long, must dd the mximum rted swim pltform weight pity to the swim pltform. d. Bots 8.84 m (29 ft.) long nd greter thn 8.84 m (29 ft.) long, tht do not hve mximum rted swim pltform weight pity must dd kg (500 l.) to the swim pltform. Loding the Bot with Cpity Plte For ots with pity plte, use the mximum lod for persons nd ger s listed on the pity plte to determine the numer of persons to ple onto the ot for exhust elow wterline height mesurements. IMPORTANT: Use 20 inhes for verge pssenger set width when mesuring enh seting. Round up or down t 0.5 to otin whole person. See the exmples listed elow. 48 in. (enh set length) 20 in. (set width) = 2.4 persons. 2.4 persons rounded down = 2 persons. 55 in. (enh set length) 20 in. (set width) = 2.75 persons persons rounded up = 3 persons. 1. Tke the mximum pity weight s listed on the pity plte (XXXX l. Persons, Ger) nd sutrt the swim pltform lod, if pplile. 2. Next divide the weight y kg (165 l.) per person. This gives the whole numer nd reminder of kg (165 l.) persons to lod onto the ot APRIL 2008 Pge 6C-5
