1 Quick Start Guide Contact details: Licence Code Activation: +44 (0) Technical Support: +44 (0) Introduction This guide contains information for the installation and licence activation of PAC SecureNet software. PAC hardware is required for a fully operational system which is not detailed in this guide. Full training should be undertaken prior to a PAC SecureNet installation v. 1.0 SecureNet v3.3 April 2009

2 Start here PC Hardware Specification IBM Compatible PC 1GHz Processor (2GHz recommended) 1Gb RAM (2Gb recommended if using Vista) CD ROM x 8 SPEED Sound Output Minimum 2Gb of free disk space (10 Gb recommended) At least 1 USB port or serial communications port for the administration kit Network connectivity if using IP controllers Operating System Requirements Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 or later Windows Vista Ultimate, Business or Enterprise 32 bit edition only Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 32 bit edition only Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 32 bit edition only (make sure the server has the role of an application server if connecting SecureNet clients. Please see IT Manager s Guide for further information) Please Note Windows Vista Home Basic and Windows Vista Home Premium are not supported Windows 2000 Professional or Server with Service Pack 4 or later is supported for client PCs only SecureNet no longer supports Windows XP Home for client installations Windows 2003 or 2008 Server and full Microsoft SQL server is recommended for installations with more than 25,000 keyholders

3 Quick Do s and Don ts Do not install on a Domain Controller. SecureNet is not designed for this and the installation will fail. Ask the company s IT department if unsure Do ensure you are aware of the type of installation - full install or client install Do ensure, if the PC is on a company s domain, that you have local administrative rights for installation. Ask the company s IT department if unsure Do ensure the PC has the correct operating system installed and complies with the hardware requirements in this document Do ensure you have the latest version of SecureNet. Please contact your local representative or technical support if unsure Do ensure you have your order number and system fingerprint before contacting customer services to activate the SecureNet software Software Installation Note: It is assumed that this is a completely fresh install and you have local administrative rights to the PC. 1. Insert the SecureNet disc - the software should start automatically. If not, navigate to the CD drive and double click the Setup.exe

4 2. If installing SecureNet for the first time on site select Install PAC SecureNet. If SecureNet is already installed and the customer requires additional PCs for administration then select Install PAC SecureNet Client Only (additional licencing and an administration kit may be required. Consult your local representative or technical support if unsure). 3. Left click on Install PAC SecureNet - the install should start. 4. Various components that are required will be installed; this is automatic and the below screen will appear while the installation is running. Please note this can take a while. 5. SQL 2005 Express is one of the larger sections installed and can take a while. Help with common SQL installation problems is available from Microsoft. The below screen will be displayed.

5 6. Welcome to the PAC SecureNet Installation Wizard will appear upon completion of the installation. 7. Click Next. 8. Accept the licence agreement by clicking the circle and then click Next. 9. Enter the following: User Information: Full Name: Organization : Click Next. 10. Enter the installer name and contact details into the Installer Text. This will be shown on the system summary page when logged into SecureNet. Please note: it is important to complete these details as they will appear in the About box within the software for the customer s information. Click Next. 11. The next screen asks where on the PC you would like SecureNet to be installed. Unless otherwise directed by the customer s IT department, to accept the defaults click Next. 6 12. The next screen asks where SecureNet backups and archives are to be stored. If necessary these can be changed by clicking on the browse folder. To accept the defaults, click Next. For further information please see IT Manager s Guide. 13. If the customer requires more than one PC with SecureNet installed then tick the box and click Next. Please Note: This can be changed at a later date if required. Contact technical support for more information.

7 14. Do not put a tick in the Load sample database. This is for a demonstration type system and only recommended for sales staff. Leave the box blank and click Next. 15. The option is now available to go back and change any of your selections. When happy, click Next to start the install. 16. The installation of SecureNet is now complete. To configure the database click Finish. 17. Once the configuration is complete click OK. 18. PAC SecureNet has been successfully installed.

8 First SecureNet Login 1. To log into SecureNet for the first time enter installer as the login name and click the LOG ON button. SecureNet will then ask for a password - enter at least six characters and click OK as below: 2. When you have successfully logged in the system summary screen will appear. This will show Demo Version in the bottom right hand corner indicating that as yet no licences have been installed.

9 3. Before SecureNet can be used on a live system it must be licenced. SecureNet uses a unique number on each system called the Fingerprint which can be found (as shown below) in select tools and upgrade licence. This number is needed prior to calling customer services. 4. With the fingerprint and your original order number, phone customer services on to obtain the licence code. 5. Click on New Licence and enter the number given to you by customer services. This can be entered in either lower or upper case. Click OK. Below is an example of a licence key - notice that between each set of four alpha-numeric characters there is a dash (-) which must be entered.

10 6. If the licence is valid then it will appear in the description field. To add any more licences click again on New License. When finished click Close. 7. You will now notice on the summary screen that Demo Version has disappeared and some of your totals will have updated. Congratulations, you are now ready to configure your new version of SecureNet.
