1 Whatever the Weather Rainbow Paintbox I can see a rainbow, see it in the sky, See it when the rain has gone away. Colors of the rainbow, In the sky so high, I can name them all for you today: Red there is, a rosy red, a red so bright and bonny, And orange as a tiger lily leaf so bold and tawny, Yellow as the blazing sun that gives us all our light, And green as grass beneath our feet, Blue as the sky so bright, There s indigo, as dark as night, And violet like flowers. These are the colors nature paints The sky with after showers. Christina G. But now I m older, and I know, that water comes from rain and snow. It stays there, waiting, in the sky, in clouds above our world so high. And when it falls, it flows along, and splashes out a watery song, as each raindrop is joined by more and rushes to the ocean shore, or to a lake, a brook, a stream, from which it rises, Just like steam. but while it s down here what do you think? 3 Storm Outside, thunder crashes! Outside, lightning flashes! Outside, wild rain lashes! Inside, we are safe. Inside, we are warm. Inside, there is comfort. Outside, there is STORM! Snow Day Snow day, Snow day, Get up and go day! See the wind blow day! Go with the flow day! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful Snow day! Snow Words Snow jacket, snow boots Snow pants, snow suits. I saw that the world Was all covered with snow! Will we go to school today? I don t think so, Cause when it s a snow day, We don t get to go! 5 A Kite I often sit and wish that I Could be a kite up in the sky, And ride upon the wind and go, Whichever way I chanced to blow. 6 Shadow Do you see my shadow? It goes where I go, It does the things that I do Never too quickly, never too slow. My shadow s dark, when the day is bright, And then it disappears at night. Does it rest, I wonder, When I m sleeping, tucked up tight? Hot Weather It s hot! So what? I like it that way. I love a hot day, When I can just play, When I can eat ice cream, And splash in the street, Or get cool in the pool, That s a hot-weather treat! 40
