1 REPLACE STEAM LINE AND CONDENSATE RETURN LINE BETWEEN STEAM PIT # 247 AND MECHANICAL ROOM, Hanger 250 WORK REQUEST# GENERAL INTENTION. It is the declared and acknowledged intention of this solicitation to obtain the supervision, expertise, labor, materials, equipment to accomplish: The replacement of the 6-inch steam line and 2 inch condensate return line between steam pit # 247 and Mechanical room Hanger LOCATION. Pit # 247 Hercules Loop Road at Hanger DETAILED REQUIREMENTS. The work includes the replacement of approximately 40 LF of 6-inch buried underground and exposed steam piping and 40 LF of 2-inch buried underground and exposed condensate piping between pit # 247 and the point of connection in the 2nd floor mechanical room. Additionally, the project will include sealing and cleaning of pit # 247: catholic protection utilizing impressed current; pavement cutting and patching; possible handling of contaminated soils; and incidental related work. The Contractor shall: a. Have utilities clearly marked prior to the start of this project. b. Provide and erect all required safety barriers needed to keep unauthorized personnel out of the work area. c. Ensure that permit required confined space procedures and safety requirements are followed prior to entering work area. d. Saw cut the Concrete surfaces from steam pit # 247 to the edge of the Hanger 250 poured concrete (40 lf) from a width of approximately ten (10) feet, or wide enough to allow for adequate work area and to provide a clean edge for resurfacing. (See photos) f. Excavate saw cut area to a depth of approximately four (4) feet or as necessary to allow for proper removal of old piping and installation of the new steam and condensate return line. Possible trench box use may be required. g. Excavated soil will be placed in a contained area provided by the contractor and covered for reuse.

Demo approximately 40 lf each 6-inch Stream line and 2- inch Condensate return line that runs from where it is connected to the flange point on the inside of pit # 247 to the mechanical room on the second deck. Remove the solid glass window on the l st deck just above the concrete wall and replace it with a 318 in piece of stainless steel plating with bracing that will allow for the installation of brackets needed to secure the new steam line. i. Install approximately 40 lf of 6-inch PERMA-PIPE I RICWIL steam pipe to replace the existing steam line and 40 lf of 6-inch PERMA-PIPE I RICWIL condensate pipe that runs from steam pit # 247 to the point where it will be connected to the existing steam and condensate in the mechanical room as per manufactures specifications. (See photo 2-0, measurements are approximate and for a single run of piping only) Contractor shall be required to provide all hangers, brackets and bolt packages needed properly secure the steam and condensate lines to the outside of the building from where it starts to run up the outside of the building to the second floor mechanical room. Steam and condensate line shall be covered with weather proof full metal service insulated jacket to prevent freezing. j. Install cathodic protection at the point where the new condensate line connects to the existing lines at valve located inside the steam pit. k. Leak check the new installation to verify that it leak free. 1. Close the excavation site utilizing the existing fill to a level of eighteen (18) inches below the top of the existing concrete. Contractor shall use the eight-inch lift and pack method for this backfill. m. Add eight (8) inches minimum aggregate base course and place steel plating capable of supporting foot traffic over the remaining 12- inch deep opening, during times when contractor is not working on excavation. n. Fill the remaining twelve (12) inches with Concrete that shall be a granite aggregate 650 PSI, airfield mixture, with l inch rebar in 12-inch x 12 - inch pattern and set on chairs at 4-~ inches high as reinforcement. Concrete shall be finished to match the surrounding concrete and have a latex curing compound sprayed on.

3 o. Concrete shall be connected using the required doweling using 1- ~ inch Diameter x 20-inch smooth dowel at 15- inches on center. Doweling to be drilled 10-inches deep into existing concrete and set in High-strength epoxy doweling s y stem. Grease and wrap the exposed doweling with polyethylene tape before being covered by the new concrete. p. Concrete placement shall be completed in two stages starting at the connection point in the open area and completed in the direction of steam pit # 247 approximately ~ way, pour, finish and Let cure. Place steel plating over the remaining trench. Once the initial concrete has fully cured, place concrete in the second half of the remaining opening, finish and let cure. q. Concrete seams shall be closed using Closed Cell Backer Rod and Dow Corning 890SL joint sealant on all concrete joints where new and old concrete come together. r. Clean inside of steam pit # 247 and seal walls using a barrier guard slurry and cloth covering (approximately 400 sf) s. Conduct site cleanup and return area to its original condition. 4. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS. The Contractor shall be required to : a. Commence work under this contact within thirty (30) calendar days after award notification or any other communication authorizing the Contractor to proceed by the Contractor Officer or their Designated Representative. b. Notify the Contracting Officers designated representativ e prior to the commencement of work. c. Have all materials on-site prior to commencement. d. Prosecute the work diligently. e. Complete the work within one hundred twenty, (120 ) calendar days. 5. TERMS OF CONTRACT : The contractor is responsible for an onsite visit to inspect the work areas and to understand fully the s c ope of work. All work performed shall be during the hours of , Monday through Friday. Any work performed outside of these periods must be, pre-approved by the Contracting Officers Designated Representative.

4 6. JOB EXECUTION: The contractor shall coordinate thru the Contracting Officers Designated Representative to minimize the impact on the tenant's schedules. The demolition practice and installation shall conform to all industry standards and applications, i.e. all North Carolina Building Codes and Statues, NEC and other OSHA Safety standards as they apply to this project. All equipment and debris generated from this project becomes the property of the contractor. The contractor must remove all equipment and debris from the job site and MCAS Cherry Point and taken to a state certified landfill, at no expense to the government.
