3 Scotland Field School In Summer 2014: Take 3 Douglas College courses with Douglas College instructors Stay at the University of Edinburgh for 3 weeks Classes are often in the castles, galleries, museums, landscapes & streetscapes of Edinburgh, Glasgow & Stirling Continue your travels in Britain and Europe, or return home to work at the conclusion of the Program

5 The Study in Scotland Program 5 May to 25 June 2014 Earn 10 University Transfer credits with: CRWR 1202 Personal Narrative (3 credits) with Calvin Wharton GEOG 1120 Introduction to Earth Science (4 credits) with Susan Smythe PEFA 1102 Arts of the Modern World (3 credits) with Christine Dewar Save these courses for Summer Spend 4 weeks in New Westminster, then 3 weeks at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Return home at the end of the program, or choose to extend your travels in Britain or Europe.

6 Creative Writing 1202 Personal Narrative writing based on personal experience, including travel develop a sense of both self and the creative process by shaping biographical material into readable narratives

7 Geography 1120 Introduction to Earth Science explores Earth s surface & landforms that have been sculpted by plate tectonics, wind, rivers, waves, glaciers & humans examines how physical geography has shaped Edinburgh & Scotland

8 Performing & Fine Arts 1102 Arts of the Modern World historical survey of the arts explores landmark works of painting, sculpture, architecture, theatre and music

9 Christine Calvin Susan Your Instructors This is our 4 th field school and our 2 nd to Scotland. Yes, we still give marks, but field school classes build a different kind of connection with instructors.

11 Your Dormitory

12 Accommodations individual rooms shared bathrooms and laundry rooms breakfast and lunch provided in main cafeteria each day, including weekends bagged lunches on excursion days

13 Each person will have their own single room in the dormitories.

14 Each room has a desk with internet cable, drawers, closets & hand basin. Bathrooms are shared.
