3 A Greeting from Christ UMC: At Christ UMC, we consider it a holy privilege to be part of the celebration of marriage. The service of Christian marriage is a worship experience. This booklet is to help familiarize you and your family with the wedding policies of Christ UMC. Please read through it carefully before scheduling your wedding. Any questions regarding policy in this booklet, or for more information, contact the church at or at 4201 State Highway 6 South, College Station, TX Reserving Church Facilities You may reserve church facilities for your wedding in advance. Members may schedule a wedding up to 12 months in advance. You must be a member for at least 12 months prior to scheduling a wedding with church-member benefits. Non-members may schedule a wedding up to 6 months in advance. Weddings will be scheduled for the following times only: 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. Rehearsals will be scheduled for the following times only: 5:00, 6:00, and 7:00 p.m. The church will be opened two hours prior to the wedding. During this time your florist will be able to set up your flowers and your photographer may take as many photographs as you would like. Weddings are only scheduled for Saturdays and the facilities are unavailable the weekend adjacent to the following holidays: Holy Week, New Year s Eve, New Year s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas. Other weekends may also be unavailable at the discretion of the worship director. A security deposit of $100 will be required before the date can be reserved. This fee is not a portion of the sanctuary fee and is refundable, except in the case of damage to church property, extra cleaning, or if the wedding is canceled less than 30 days prior to scheduled date. with this ring...

4 I thee wed... Wedding Coordinator Once you decide to have your wedding in our facility, you will be working with a wedding coordinator who will be your liaison with Christ UMC. When your wedding date is confirmed, your coordinator will contact you. Your coordinator will be present, and will direct the rehearsal and facilitate the wedding. The fee for this service will be included in the sanctuary fee. Officiating Minister Guest ministers are welcome to preside over weddings, with approval of Christ UMC s Senior Pastor. Assistance by a member of the church s clergy is required if the guest minister is not an ordained United Methodist minister. Premarital Counseling As stated in The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, all couples are required to receive premarital counseling. If a minister at Christ UMC is assisting in your wedding, the first counseling session should be held within thirty days of booking your wedding. Further counseling sessions will be at the minister s discretion. If another minister is providing counseling, then counseling will not be required here. Marriage License For weddings performed at this church, the marriage license may be obtained in any county in the state of Texas. A marriage license is not valid until 72 hours after the date of issue. Please give the marriage license to the wedding coordinator at the rehearsal. The church office will return the license to the County Clerk.

5 Decorations & Facilities Policies By arrangements through the church office, the sanctuary may be made available for decoration prior to the wedding. Attachment devices for decorations which will mar the woodwork and church furniture are not permitted. Vases containing liquids must have appropriate pads placed under them to prevent stains or discoloration to tables, carpets or other furnishings. Attachments to chairs or other woodwork for holding flowers or other decorations are to be covered with fabric or similar protective materials to prevent damage or scratching of furniture. Candles are only permitted on the chancel area. Flower girls may not drop real flower petals; silk are acceptable. Please let the church know in advance if you will leave flowers to be used by the church. Unless previous arrangements are made, the florist or family is to remove all decorations immediately following the wedding. Usage of rice, confetti, bird seed or fireworks is not allowed in or around church property. Selection of Music If you desire organ music at your ceremony, you must use the church s organist (this is included in the sanctuary fee.) Music should be appropriate and is subject to approval by the Director of Music. The contact with the organist is the responsibility of the bride and groom. When there is a soloist, it is the responsibility of the bride and groom to arrange for a rehearsal with the organist. This should be planned for the evening of the scheduled wedding rehearsal, but, if additional rehearsals are necessary, there is additional compensation for both soloist and organist. to have and to hold...

6 from this day forward... Rehearsals Rehearsals are scheduled the evening before the wedding. Only those participating in the wedding service need attend. Rehearsals start on time and are limited to one hour. It is the obligation of the bride and groom to make sure that members of the wedding party are familiar with church policies. Dressing Rooms Dressing rooms will be provided for the bride, groom, and their wedding parties upon prior request. It is the responsibility of the bride and groom to make sure arrangements are made for the care of personal property left in such rooms before, during and after the ceremony. The church is not responsible for personal items left in the building. Photography Photographs may be taken either before or after the wedding. However, no flash pictures are permitted during the ceremony. Existing light video recording may be made of the service after consulting with your wedding coordinator. Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on church property. The minister may refuse to perform a ceremony in which any member of the wedding party is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Also, please note that Christ UMC is a tobacco-free facility.

7 Receptions The Fellowship Hall may be rented for a reception after your wedding. The fee for the Fellowship Hall is $350 for members, $500 for non-members, plus applicable fees. If you are interested in renting the Fellowship Hall, please contact the church office. Where are we located? Christ UMC can be accessed from Highway 6. If you are traveling south-bound on Highway 6, you will exit William D. Fitch Parkway, u-turn under the bypass and Christ UMC will be approximately 0.8 miles from the intersection. If you are traveling north-bound on Highway 6, exit William D. Fitch Parkway, stay on the feeder road, go straight through the stoplight and Christ UMC will be approximately 0.8 miles from the intersection.
