How it works A load balancer inspects and processes application traffic with full payload inspection and streaming. As requests are received, a range of optimization techniques are employed to ensure they are presented in the most appropriate manner to the web and application servers. Application responses can be compressed, cached and returned to the client at optimum speed, freeing up resources on the server. Built-in software controls how individual requests are optimized, routed and transformed. Traffic management rules may also be created using other methods. Load balancers include a web-based administration interface that provides powerful real-time analysis and history for traffic across load balancer clusters. Armor deploys a new virtual appliance within a customer environment that serves as a load balancer. The appliance is dedicated to a single customer, eliminating noisy neighbor issues introduced by shared load balancing models. Inbound and outbound HTTP/HTTPS (ports 80/443) traffic to and from your application is managed by the load balancer to ensure your services are delivered at optimum performance. Load balancers manage network sessions like web, and applications over multiple connections in order to spread out the amount of bandwidth used by incoming network traffic. Content compression can result in bandwidth being used more efficiently. Offloading this workload from the back-end servers can enable it to serve requests faster.
