4 Frmat As HTML Tl Intrductin Overview The Frmat As HTML is a Frmat Tl which is used t create a Task Step that prduces single r multiple HTML dcuments, primarily utilising infrmatin prvided by Input Steps such as the Database Query (ODBC). Yu may create new HTML pages within the interface r imprt pages that have already been created elsewhere. The Step uses merge fields t merge data bjects int the dcument and/r insert tabulated data frm a surce t prduce dynamic dcuments such as rder acknwledgements, statements, intranet r web site cntent r summary reprts. These HTML dcuments can then be delivered using many f the Output Steps such as Send Message (SMTP), File Transfer (FTP) and Save t File. The HTML Table functinality is extremely flexible allwing presentatin f the data in exactly the frm required. Tables supprt gruping, sub ttals, grand ttals, data frmatting and ultimately flexible hyperlink supprt fr cmmn hyperlink types t enable drill-dwn/thrugh t ther cntent r custm prtcls t autmate applicatins. Use yur default third-party HTML editr such as Micrsft Expressin Studi r Adbe Dreamweaver in cnjunctin with TaskCentre by simply using the Edit buttn. The cntents f the General tab (Ref: Figure 1) are as fllws: Frmatting The Frmatting tab (Ref: Figure 2) prvides features fr creating an HTML dcument, incrprating the data frm a recrdset created by a Database Query (ODBC), Call Prcedure (OLEDB), Database Query (OLEDB) r Data Filter Step if selected. The main wrkspace prvides a blank 'what yu see is what yu get' (WYSIWYG) HTML dcument in which text may be manually entered and data clumns added frm a pp up dialg by dragging and drpping them int the required psitin. Als, pre-cnfigured HTML dcuments may be imprted int the dcument, the dcument pened and edited in yur default HTML editr and the dcument previewed t ensure that it is displayed crrectly. 5

8 Frmat As HTML Tl Figure 2. Frmat As HTML Frmatting tab and Task Brwser dialg. When the Frmatting tab is pened, the Task Brwser dialg (Ref: Errr! Reference surce nt fund.) is als pened. This expses all Task Data, including the clumns used in the recrdset. It is used t select any f the clumns fr inclusin in the final utput, if the HTML Table Designer is nt being used, by dragging and drpping them int the required psitin. The tab cntains the fllwing: One dcument Only ne dcument is generated. New dcument when clumn changes - Multiple dcuments will be generated frm the recrdset. The recrds included in each dcument will be determined by the clumn name selected, e.g. clumn name cmpanyname will grup all the recrds where cmpanyname = Orbis Sftware int ne dcument and each subsequent cmpany int a new dcument. Nte: In rder fr the gruping t wrk in this manner the clumn selected must be included as a primary srt key in the Database Query (ODBC), Database Query (OLEDB) r Call Prcedure (OLEDB) Step. New dcument fr each rw A new dcument is generated fr each rw cntained in the recrdset. This ptin des nt allw a table t be used and is mst apprpriate fr generating singular dcuments where the clumns frm the query are used as merge fields. E.g. an autmated mail sht. Design (buttn): 6

9 Frmat As HTML Tl Used purely fr the Table Design wrk. Invkes the HTML Table Designer dialg (Ref: Figure 4). Insert (buttn) Used t place the newly created & frmatted recrdset, frm the HTML Table Designer dialg, int the Design Layut Pane: This is the final wrksheet and is the area in which the table may be embedded int the final dcument. In rder t give the best presentatin, the final dcument may then have accmpanying Header Fields, Backgrunds, Fnts and Lgs etc. Bld (buttn) Will emblden the selected text Underline (buttn) Will underline the selected text. Italics (buttn) Will italicise the selected text. Used t check the final utput prir t sending. Invkes the Dcument Preview dialg (Ref: Figure 3) Invkes the Users current default HTML editr. This HTML Editr may be Ntepad, Wrd r preferably FrntPage. This gives the Designer the functinality f a webpage editr t further embellish the design and will be necessary fr adding backgrunds, specialised fnts, lgs etc. Used t navigate t and select a previusly created HTML dcument. Invkes the standard Windws Brwse dialg. Dcument Preview dialg The Dcument Preview dialg (Ref: Figure 3Errr! Reference surce nt fund.) cntains nly a main viewing pane and a Clse buttn. The main viewing pane shws the recrdset in its currently chsen frmat, including all relevant text and Table cntent. This is hw the recrdset will appear in the final utput. The Clse buttn will clse the dialg and return t the Frmat As HTML dialg, where the User may decide t make further changes r save the existing changes as they stand 7

10 Frmat As HTML Tl Figure 3 Dcument Preview dialg. - HTML Table Designer The HTML Table Designer is displayed when the Design buttn is selected in the Frmatting tab f the Frmat As HTML dialg and is used t create an HTML table incrprating data frm a selected recrdset prduced as a result f a Database Query (ODBC), Call Prcedure (OLEDB) r Data Filter Step previusly created fr the Task. The dialg cntains the tw tabbed panes which are described belw. Clumns The Clumns tab (Ref: Figure 4) f the HTML Table Designer is used t add the clumns t be included in the table and then t cnfigure ptins fr the data and fr the table itself. Figure 4. Clumns are added t the table by dragging and drpping them int the blank table area frm the Task Brwser and may be rdered by dragging and drpping them t the left r right f anther clumn. 8

11 Frmat As HTML Tl Once a clumn has been added t the table the fllwing ptins, displayed t the left f each rw, may be cnfigured fr each clumn: Text data frmat - Fr 'Text' data frmats the Clumn Frmat dialg prvides the fllwing ptins: Alignment - 'Default', 'Left' (default), 'Right' r 'Centre' alignments may be selected. Numeric data frmat - Fr 'Numeric' data frmats the Clumn Frmat dialg prvides the fllwing ptins: Frmat - The 'Numeric' data frmat is selected but the 'Text', 'Date/Time' and 'Currency' data frmats are als displayed and may be selected. Alignment - 'Default', 'Left' (default), 'Right' r 'Centre' alignments may be selected. Use System Defaults - Selecting this ptin used the default settings fr numeric clumns. Select Regin - Different cuntries use different methds fr displaying numbers. Selecting this ptin prvides the fllwing: Regin - A drp dwn list f cuntries is prvided fr selectin. Selecting a cuntry then autmatically cnfigures the default settings fr that cuntry. These settings are displayed belw and may be manually edited if required. Decimal Symbl - The symbl t be used as the decimal separatr may be manually entered. Decimal Places - The number f decimal places t be displayed may be either manually entered r by using the up and dwn arrws t the right f the field. Digit Gruping Symbl - The symbl r character t be used as the separatr fr large whle numbers may be manually entered. Digit Gruping - A drp dwn list prvides ptins fr displaying large whle numbers. Negative Symbl - The symbl t be used t indicate a negative number may be manually entered. Negative Frmat - A drp dwn list prvides ptins fr displaying negative numbers. 10

Sample - A sample number using the selected settings is displayed. Date / Time data frmat - Fr 'Date/Time' data frmats the Clumn Frmat dialg prvides the fllwing ptins: Frmat - The 'Date / Time' data frmat is selected but the 'Text' and 'Numeric' data frmats are als displayed and may be selected. The list cntains the fllwing selectin: (Nne) - The data is nt displayed as a hyperlink (Aut) default - The hyperlink type is interpreted by the sftware and a suitable hyperlink type used. - Links t a web page. file:/// - Links t a file. ftp:// - Links t a file n an ftp server. mailt: - Opens a new mail message. Hyperlink Displays the clumn name. Open in New Windw - When checked allws the width and height f the new windw in pixels t be specified thrugh fields lcated at the bttm f the screen. Flat - A drp dwn list prvides ptins f 'Default', 'Left' (default), 'Right' and 'Centre' fr selectin t set the table psitin in the dcument. Cell Padding - A field is prvided in which a value in pixels may be added fr the cell padding. Up and dwn arrws are als prvided t the right f the field t input a value. Cell Spacing - A field is prvided in which a value in pixels may be added fr the cell spacing. Up and dwn arrws are als prvided t the right f the field t input a value. Specify width - When checked a value may be manually entered int a field t specify hw much f the screen the table will ccupy when displayed. Psitin - A drp dwn list displays the name f each clumn included in the table. Selecting a clumn name then inserts the Ttal Label int that clumns cell within the sub ttal rw.
