2 View and consume 3D data with the Geospatial Portal This demo workflow will present the capabilities of consuming 3D data (3D Map Tiles and 3D Objects) in the Geospatial Portal. In order to support 3D view and streaming of ECWP or JPEG 2000 files, you must install the ERDAS ECW JPEG 2000 and 3D Plug-in. Please use the following link to download and install the appropriate plug-in for your browser: The 3D functionality in Geospatial Portal is only available for the Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome. Hawaii the example of 3D scene build with 3D Map Tiles and 3D Objects. 1. Run Geospatial Portal. The Geospatial Portal runs in 3D mode. 2. Click the Hawaii button. 3. The 3D scene showing Hawaii island is displayed. 2

3 4. This scene consist of two layers: Hawaii and Hawaii Buildings. The Hawaii layer shows 3D Map Tiles generated using the Intergraph mtransformer utility. The Hawaii Buildings layer shows standalone 3D Objects (also generated using the Intergraph mtransformer). 5. Navigate the 3D scene with a mouse. Use the mouse wheel to zoom in or zoom out. To move the 3D map, simply move the mouse with the left mouse button being pressed. In order to rotate the 3D scene, press the right mouse button and move the mouse. 3

4 Klagenfurt the example of 3D Map Tiles with embedded 3D Objects. 1. Click the Klagenfurt button. 2. The 3D map showing the city center of Klagenfurt is displayed. The buildings (3D Objects) are embedded in the 3D Map Tiles. Note that there is only one layer Klagenfurt - in the Map Content. 3. Navigate the 3D scene with a mouse. Use the mouse wheel to zoom in or zoom out. To move the 3D map simply move the mouse with the left mouse button being pressed. In order to rotate the 3D scene, press the right mouse button and move the mouse. 4

5 4. Click the Reset North button on the toolbar to reset the view so the north direction is on the top. 5

6 Biebrza with 3D Objects the example of interaction of 3D Map Tiles and 3D Objects with other services (WMS, WFS-G). 1. Click the Biebrza with 3D Objects button. 2. The 3D map of a part of the Biebrza National Park is displayed. The displayed 3D scene consist of the following layers: Biebrza Terrain 3D Map Tiles which builds the terrain model of the Biebrza National Park. Biebrza Bushes and Biebrza Trees the 3D Objects representing the location of trees and bushes in the Biebrza National Park. Tourist Routes Web Map Service (2D) showing the tourist routes. This layer overlays the 3D Map Tiles layer. 6

7 3. Click the Biebrza Terrain button. 4. The 3D map of another part of the Biebrza National Park is displayed. The displayed 3D scene consist of the following layers: Biebrza Towers - observation towers (3D objects) in the Biebrza National Park. Tourist Routes - WMS service (2D) showing the tourist routes. This layer overlays the 3D Map Tile Layers. BiebrzaTerrainPartTwo 3D Map Tiles which builds the terrain model of the Biebrza National Park. 5. With connected WFS-G service and the Live Search functionality you can quickly find locations of other observation towers in the Biebrza National Park. a. Select the Search tab on the toolbar. b. In the Live Search field start typing observation tower and after a while the list with observation towers in the Biebrza National Park will be displayed. 7

8 c. Select any element from the list. You will be redirected to the selected observation tower. d. When you zoom out you will see a number of pins showing the locations of other 3D Objects (observation towers) in the Biebrza National Park. 8

9 Final Note You are using a full-working version of the Geospatial Portal for this demonstration. There are many additional commands and capabilities beyond what has been provided in the demonstration. Feel free to explore and use all of the commands available and/or to explore the User Guide by choosing the About button on the toolbar, and then choosing Guide.
