1 Lina Chen I m from Fuzhou, China. Winters are warm in my hometown. The winter is not like New York s. Fuzhou is the biggest city in Fujian province. Fuzhou is a city in the south of China. There is a famous sea view and mountains and historical sites. West Lake Park is the largest park in Fuzhou. Many people like to go to walk there on the weekend. In my hometown, the people have a very slow pace of life. I like it because it s not like the busy working style of New York. My home is near the sea, so we have a lot of seafood there. 1

2 Grace Xu I m from Beijing, China. Beijing is the capital of China. Beijing is a beautiful city, but the air is very dirty. People don t like it, but I love it. There are a lot of people in Beijing. Do you know what the population of Beijing is? Beijing is an old city. The emperors lived in Beijing. They lived in the palace, so many people come to visit it. Beijing has many, many delicious foods. For example, roast duck is most people s favorite. Beijing is a northern city. It has four seasons. I like fall best, but I don t like summer because summer is very hot. This is Beijing, my hometown. Welcome to Beijing. 2

3 Carrie Kang My name is Carrie Kang. I am from Henan, China. Henan s weather is like New York s. My favorite season is spring, because the grasses and trees become green and flowers are flowering. It s very beautiful. Henan is a big province located in central China. Henan is the third most populous province in China. It has over 94 million people. Henan province has seven historic and cultural cities, and Luoyang, Kaifeng, and Anyang are among China s seven Ancient Capitals. Henan has a Shaolin Kung Fu temple, and a lot of food like stewed noodles, spring chicken, spiced beef, and more. 3

4 Julia Song I am from Shen Yang, China. It is in the north part of China. It is near Russia. Shen Yang is the capital and a big city. Shen Yang is a big state. It has a lot of big new buildings. In the winter my hometown is very cold and a lot of snow falls. My hometown s food, dumplings, are popular in my country. They are very delicious. There is a river in my hometown. I remember when I was a little girl, my brother and I often went to the river to catch fish in the summer. It is a beautiful river and beautiful city. 4

5 Yili Lu I am from Beijing, China. My hometown is Beijing. It is the capital of China and is in the north part of the country. Beijing is not only an economic, political and cultural center in China; it is also a famous historic world city. My family has been there for many years. In the old days, the city was not modern and big. But it has changed a lot recently. I like fall in Beijing. The weather is very nice. I don t like winter over there. The weather is much colder than it is in New York. Now I am living in New York but I never forget Beijing, my hometown. 5

6 Jia Rong Mei My name is Jia Rong Mei. I am from Taishan, China. It is a big city. It is a beautiful city. The city has other names. Many people call it Volleyball Town and Overseas Chinese Hometown. In October, people come here from other cities. They eat many foods. The popular foods are seafood and beef. On September 9 th on the Lunar calendar many people come to my small town. They come to eat beef. I was born in Taishan. The city s weather is very beautiful. It never snows there. The city has many special local products. The food products are very delicious. I left my hometown one year ago. I miss my hometown. 6

7 Vivian Tong I m from Shenzhen, Guangdong. Shenzhen is located in the southern part of Guangdong. It s one of the most populous cities in China. It neighbors Hong Kong, so the economic growth is faster than other cities in Guangdong. Many people travel to Shenzhen. It s a beautiful beach city and a shopping city. It s very busy. You can find different food in Shenzhen. I like my hometown s food more than New York s food, because my hometown s food is fresher. I like my hometown. 7

8 Nu Tran I am from Saigon, Ho Chi Minh, Viet Nam. It is in the south of Viet Nam. It is called Ho Chi Minh s City or Saigon. It is in the south of Asia. Saigon is a big town with a population of about 20 million. The crow people make handicrafts for tourists. If you go around town, there are a lot of souvenir stores and different shops. There are a lot of foods. The fruits taste delicious. The famous foods are Pho Beef and sweet grapefruits. The weather is hot and the scenery is nice. Tourists like to go there for vacation, because it has shops, arts, crafts, and souvenir gifts. Tourists can buy great gifts for friends or family. In my hometown people are friendly, nice, and welcoming to tourists. 8

9 Mia Huang I am from ShenZhen, China. I was born in Shenzhen. It is near Hong Kong. Many people go in and out every day. Sometimes many people come to Shenzhen to get a massage and go shopping. Shenzhen has a lot of seafood, but I don t like it! I just like to eat noodles. I don t think seafood is tasty. Shenzhen is a very beautiful big town. I always miss my friends and family. They are often on my mind. It is my native place! 9

10 Zu Jia Wang My hometown is Wuhan City in China. Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province. It is the most populous city in central China. It has a population of 11 million people, and lies at the intersection of the middle reaches of the Yangtze and Han rivers. The Yangtze is the third-longest river in the world, and the Han River is its largest tributary. Because of this, Wuhan is sometimes called River City. There are a great number of lakes and ponds around the city, so it is also called the City of a Hundred Lakes sometimes. Wuhan is also a major transportation hub in China. It has dozens of subways, railways, roads, highways and airlines. 10

11 Wing Li My name is Wing Li. I am from GuangDong, China. My hometown is a big city. It is a beautiful city. My hometown is in southern China. My town has the first national snow spa. People eat seafood. We have beaches. There are mountains and rafting. Many people visit. It s my favorite place. But I don t miss it. 11

12 Qiu, Shu Dan I m from Fuzhou, China. Fuzhou is the capital of Fujian province. The population of Fujian province is about 37 million. Fuzhou is one of the largest cities in Fujian province. It s located in southeastern China. It s a coastal city and it has many small rivers. Fuzhou is rich in seafood. People like to eat seafood there. For example, shrimp, fish, crabs and shellfish are popular. People also like to eat rice. It s different from people who live in the north of China, where they eat noodles. It s famous for its sea view. And it is also known as the city of banyan because many banyan trees are there. 12

13 Limei Chen I am from Guangzhou, Guangdong (Canton), China. Canton is a province in the south of China. Guangzhou is the capital of Canton and it is near Hong Kong and Macau, but it has no coast or beach. Guangzhou is the third largest city in China. There are about 14 million people and the number is increasing every day. People in Guangzhou speak Cantonese and Mandarin. Guangzhou is a very beautiful city. The Five Goats Statue is the symbol of Guangzhou. There are only a few hills in the city and most of the area is fields. Guangzhou has a big river that we call Pearl River, which gives us the drinking water we need. Guangzhou has never had an earthquake or hurricane. It is a very safe city. Guangzhou has four distinct seasons. Summer is longer than winter, and it s very hot. It doesn t snow in the winter. 13

14 Guangzhou has three big shopping areas: Beijing Road, ShangXiaJiu Road and East Tianhe business zone. Lots of tourists like to visit these shopping places. The most famous thing in Guangzhou is the cooking culture. Guangzhou has a lot of restaurants with different kinds of food and they are open from 7 am to 12 am every day. Some of them stay open all night because many people like to have a midnight snack. Most of the Guangzhou citizens like Cantonese cuisine because it is very delicious and easy to make. Cantonese people usually have tea and refreshments (we call that Dianxing) in the morning at a restaurant. Every time you go to a restaurant for breakfast, you will see it is full and you need to wait for a seat. 14

15 Junying Zhen (Letina) I am from Guangzhou, China. Guangzhou is the capital city of GuangDong, China. Guangzhou is called the south gate of China. Guangzhou is a big city. Guangzhou has a big population. Guangzhou is near the Zhu Jiang River. It s a very beautiful city. Guangzhou is a friendly city. Guangzhou has the popular XueXiu Zoo and the famous BaiYun Mountain. Guangzhou has many typical dishes. Guangzhou has very delicious Danxin, roast pork, roast chicken. If you go to Guangzhou you can learn more about it. 15

16 Amy Chen I come from Tai Shan, China. Tai Shan is a small town. Tai Shan has a delicious foods. In Tai Shan the summer is so hot. Tai Shan has a lot of mountains. In my hometown people are friendly. Tai Shan has a lot of fresh foot. Tai Shan is an overseas Chinese hometown. Tai Shan has a lot of beaches. 16

17 Anna Wu I m from Guangzhou, China. Guangzhou has a two thousand year old history. It has the famous food, the food culture is very old. It is a modernized metropolis, known as the Pearl of the south China Sea, the starting point of the Silk Road on the sea. Guangzhou has four seasons, a variety of perennial flowers variety, full of vitality, it has a reputation as the flower city. Abundant rainfall, has unique south of the five ridge culture here, the main dialect is Cantonese. In 2010 the Asian Games were in my city. Every year spring and fall in Guangzhou there is an import and export fair. Numerous places are here and many tourists visit my city. Up-down 9 road commercial pedestrian street and Beijing road pedestrian are foreign tourists will come to it. Guangzhou has many Festivals. 18 Chui Chun Lee I come from China. My first language is Chinese Cantonese. Hong Kong is a beautiful city. The weather is nice. There are many people. The buildings are tall. It is a very convenient place. There are many different restaurants. Some of the restaurants are open until midnight and the foods taste very good. The people are nice and helpful. If you want to ask where something is, they will help you if they know. Many tourists visit Hong Kong. 18

19 Fen Fen Liang I m from a small town called Tai Shan, China. Tai Shan is a small town but it has a lot of delicious foods. Tai Shan is a sea town, it has a lot of beaches and it teems with sea food, especially oysters. Tai Shan has a lot of rice paddies. Tai Shan has hot springs. It is not a bustling city. It is good for vacation. In Tai Shan the summer is too hot but the winter isn t cold, it is cool. Spring is Tai Shan s rainy season. Winter is wonderful, because it is sunny and cool. Tai Shan has many traditional festivals. The important traditional festivals of Tai Shan are Chinese New Year, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. Tai Shan s people usually make different foods to celebrate different festivals. I love delicious food and I love my hometown. 19

20 Hua Jiang I m from China. I m from an ancient, beautiful country. There are a lot of people and they use chopsticks, like me. Civilization in my country began five thousand years ago. The Great Wall of China is famous in my country. I was born in the south of China, Fu Jiang, China. It s a small town but it is a very beautiful place which is surrounded by water. In the town some people catch a seafood for living. Some people own their own businesses. Some people live abroad. The best thing I remember about my childhood was every Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is our traditional holiday. We celebrated by receiving red money bags, wearing new clothes lighting fireworks and eating lots of food. It was an interesting. 20
