3 INSTALLATION GUIDE SMART LEARNING SUITE 16.1 Getting started This guide explains hw t install the fllwing sftware using the SMART Learning Suite: SMART Ntebk 16.1 cllabrative learning sftware SMART Prduct Drivers 12.6 SMART Ink 4.1 Handwriting recgnitin SMART Cmmn Files This guide is intended fr teachers, IT administratrs and thers wh are respnsible fr installing sftware n teachers cmputers. T use this guide, yu must have access t the installatin files thrugh the installatin DVD r the Internet. IMPORTANT If SMART Respnse is currently installed, updating t Ntebk 16.1 will replace SMART Respnse with the new SMART respnse 2 assessment tl. Please review the details t ensure it will nt disrupt current teacher wrk flws. Existing assessment data may need t be backed up. Fr mre infrmatin see the SMART respnse 2 FAQs. Cmputer requirements NOTE Operating systems and ther third-party sftware released after this SMART sftware might nt be supprted. Yu might need t whitelist thse websites if yu restrict utbund Internet access. Deplying the sftware If yu re an IT administratr and yu want t deply the sftware t multiple cmputers, see the SMART Learning Suite 16.1 system administratr s guide (smarttech.cm/kb/171070). Installing the sftware Yu can start the installer by inserting the DVD int the cmputer r by dwnlading the installer frm the SMART website. T start the installer frm the DVD 1. Insert the DVD int the cmputer. The SMART Learning Suite Installer dialg bx appears. NOTE If the dialg bx desn t appear, use Finder t brwse t and pen [DVD]/smart16-1admin.dmg. 2. Click Install. The installer appears. T dwnlad and start the installer frm the website 1. G t 2. 5 INSTALLATION GUIDE SMART LEARNING SUITE Cmplete steps 2-4 n the web page. 4. Click DOWNLOAD. 5. Save the file t a temprary lcatin. 6. Brwse t and duble-click the file. The SMART Learning Suite Installatin Wizard appears. T install the sftware using the installer 1. Start the installer as described in the previus prcedure. 2. A windw appears with the message This package will run a prgram t determine if the sftware can be installed, click Cntinue. 3. The welcme screen appears, click Cntinue. 4. Review the terms in the end user license agreement, and click Cntinue. 5. The terms f sftware license agreement will appear, and if yu accept the terms, click Agree. 6. Select the check bx if yu want t jin the Custmer Experience Prgram, and then click Cntinue. 7. Select the sftware yu want t install. NOTES SMART Ntebk, SMART Prduct Drivers, and SMART Ink are selected by default. Handwriting recgnitin (English) is selected by default. Yu can select ther languages if yu want handwriting recgnitin in ther languages. SMART respnse 2 assessment tl is nw included in the installatin and replaces SMART Respnse. If yu select SMART Ntebk, click it s disclsure triangle, and then select the Gallery cllectins yu want t install. 8. Click Cntinue. 5 smarttech.cm/kb/171072

6 INSTALLATION GUIDE SMART LEARNING SUITE Click Install. NOTES If yu install the sftware withut a valid Prduct Key yu ll receive a 45-day trial. A windw fr SMART Learning Suite maintenance prgram appears with the message: This versin f SMART Ntebk sftware requires a paid subscriptin t SMART Learning Suite. Cntinue the installatin fr a 45-day trial. Fr further infrmatin see, the SMART Learning Suite webpage. 10. The Installatin Wizard will display the message, The installatin was successful. The sftware was installed. Click Clse. Uninstalling the sftware After installing SMART Learning Suite 16.1, yu can use SMART Uninstaller t uninstall the sftware. T uninstall SMART Learning Suite 16.1 using SMART Uninstaller 1. In Finder, brwse t Applicatins/SMART Technlgies, and then duble-click SMART Uninstaller. 7 INSTALLATION GUIDE SMART LEARNING SUITE Select the sftware yu want t uninstall. NOTES Sme SMART sftware is dependent n ther SMART sftware. If yu select this sftware, SMART Uninstaller autmatically selects the sftware n which it depends. SMART Uninstaller autmatically uninstalls any supprting sftware that is n lnger being used. If yu chse t uninstall all SMART sftware, SMART Uninstaller autmatically uninstalls all supprting sftware, including itself. T remve the previus SMART Install Manager, use SMART Uninstaller fund in the Applicatin/SMART Technlgies flder. The latest SMART Install Manager icn will appear under the Applicatins flder, and can nly be uninstalled by dragging t the Trash can. TIPS T select mre than ne sftware applicatin, hld dwn SHIFT r COMMAND while selecting the sftware applicatins. T select all sftware applicatins, press Select All. 3. Press Remve, and then press OK. 4. If prmpted, enter a user name and passwrd with administratr privileges, and then press OK. SMART Uninstaller uninstalls the selected sftware. 5.
