1 JOB PACK RANDOM ACTS PROGRAMME MANAGER, RANDOM ACTS NETWORK CENTRE NORTH Reports to: Salary: Tenure: Holiday: Creative Director, Learning and Participation and Head of Programme, Tyneside Cinema. 23,000-26,000 per annum, depending on experience Full time (35 hours per week). This is a fixed term contract until 31 st March 2018 Some evening and weekend work will be required, as well as occasional overnight stays to meet the demands of the project. Some travel across the North region will be required. 30 days per annum including bank holidays. BACKGROUND Tyneside Cinema is the lead organisation for the Random Acts Network Centre North, one of five Centres across England, in a 3-year initiative funded by Arts Council in partnership with C4 that was launched in May The aim is to identify and develop young creative talent across the age bracket, from a range of settings and artforms, and from across the whole Northern region (NE, Yorkshire, NW and Cumbria) and produce 72 short films of 90 seconds to 3 minutes over 3 years. To deliver this we work in partnership at a strategic level with HOME (Manchester) and one of the North s leading independent production companies True North (Leeds) along with an extended partnership network including over 50 arts, cultural, youth, community and educational organisations. To date we have produced 20 short films, 19 of which have been acquired by C4 s Random Acts, which is a remarkable achievement. A further 4 are in production and 16 have just been commissioned and will go into development this summer. The young people participating in the programme attend an intensive 3-day talent residential and are subsequently supported by a team and an individual mentor to develop and produce their ideas.

2 ABOUT THE JOB This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised, enthusiastic and confident professional to manage and develop the Random Acts training, education and production programme who is also passionate about film and working with young people to achieve their creative potential. An exceptional project manager, you will be responsible for the management, organization and delivery of the outreach and recruitment, events and training, partnerships and administrative aspects of the Random Acts programme; with the ambition and drive to develop the Network, the profile and reach of the offer to a diverse range of young people and to produce work of the highest possible standard. You will work closely with the Creative Director, Learning and Participation at Tyneside Cinema, an independent Executive Producer to the project and the wider extended network of partners. PERSON SPECIFICATION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manage Random Acts Network Centre North and act as the first point of contact for all young people, network partners and stakeholders. Collaborate with the Creative Director, Learning and Participation, and Head of Programme, Tyneside Cinema, to ensure the project is delivered in line with stakeholder aims and objectives. Manage the budget, ensuring all financial commitments are met and recorded in a timely manner that meets the needs of RANC. Manage communication to all network partners, ensuring they have the relevant up-to-date information when needed. Manage the production and distribution of marketing and communications materials for the project, including print, web and social media. Lead on the delivery of the recruitment strategy, including supporting the delivery of recruitment events and workshops and liaising with marketing teams across the network to promote the opportunity. Manage the application process, including collating applicant work, assembling a commissioning panel and communicating outcomes to all relevant parties. 2

3 Producing talent development residentials, including coordinating travel and accommodation for participants and staff, supporting the delivery of training activity and liaising with external organisations where appropriate. Coordinating online mentoring for participants, ensuring a positive experience that supports their development and the development of their idea. Contributing to the development and production of participants work where appropriate. Contribute to communication with True North, our production partner, where appropriate. Coordinate further development opportunities for participants. Produce an annual showcase event celebrating the achievements of participants. Contribute to the evaluation process ensuring the project is delivered in line with stakeholder aims and objectives. Produce regular progress reports for project stakeholders. Represent the project at relevant forums and events. Liaise with all partner organistaion, guests, speakers and staff in close consultation with Tyneside Cinema s team. Contribute to the review, evaluation and improvement of production work and processes on an ongoing basis. Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested that are related to the strategic objectives of Tyneside Cinema. ESSENTIAL SKILLS Exceptional project management skills, including organisation, communication, presentation with attention to detail. Ability to manage a complex workload. Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage workload. Experienced in managing budgets. Dynamic and resilient with a flexible and professional approach to work. 3

4 Ability to work collaboratively, in partnership and to manage a team. Event management in a range of different contexts. Experience in producing training / educational programmes and events. Have strong IT skills, and knowledge of the relevant computer packages. Confident user of social media and some knowledge of online platforms. Have knowledge of the requirements of the relevant health and safety legislation and procedures. Experienced in working with young people / emerging talent. Keen interest in a broad range of artforms with a particular focus on film and artist moving image. Understanding of Equal Opportunities and diversity issues. Experienced in evaluating projects. DESIRABLE SKILLS Knowledge of the cultural sector across the North. Understanding of the film production process. Knowledge of television industry level production roles and responsibilities. Possess current knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and associated procedures, including copyright, data protection, public liability, etc. and how to comply with regulatory requirements. Car owner with clean driving license. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS The successful candidate will be required to apply for a DBS check if they do not hold a valid certificate. 4
