1 , Plover, WI Phone Website- Dear Educators: The would like to extend an excellent opportunity for your students to express their ideas, gain insight into the importance of water conservation and a clean water supply and possibly win cash prizes for themselves and your school. WRWA is sponsoring a video contest for Wisconsin High School Students. The goal is to create public awareness on the topics of Water Conservation and Little Known Facts on Water to Educate the Public. Each team MUST INCLUDE their local water and/or wastewater utility in their video. Each team must have a sponsoring teacher and while any teacher can serve as a sponsor, this is ideal for those who work with environmental science, media technology or communications. There is a 10 video limit per school. Sponsoring teachers should coordinate and select their top 10 videos for submission. There is a Grand Prize of $1, to be awarded to the school of the sponsoring teacher/department as well as $ to each student of the winning team. There is a limit of four students per team. The winning video will be shown at our annual conference, published on our website and may appear on television as a public service announcement. The winner will be notified by telephone by March 4, 2016 and will be invited to attend WRWA s Annual Technical Conference in Green Bay, Wisconsin on March 30, 2016 to receive their prizes during our Annual Awards presentation. 4 The Challenge Create a video up to 45 seconds long based on one of the following themes. (1) Water Conservation or (2) Little Known Facts on Water to educate the public. Creatively show us how you would help people in your community understand what to do to protect their drinking water or educate people on why it s important and that their help does make a difference. Students must include their local water and/or wastewater utility in the video in some way. This can be a logo, utility staff, utility information, utility facilities, etc. Who s Eligible The contest is open to students in grades 9 12, individually or as a group entry of no more than four students. An individual teacher representing a specific department within your school must sponsor entries. LIMIT OF 10 VIDEOS PER SCHOOL. The Sponsoring Teacher The sponsor s role is to encourage students participation and provide general guidance in how to plan a video and enter the contest not developing the creative concept or executing the video. Any teacher can serve as the sponsor, but this is ideal for those who work with environmental science, media technology or communications. The Timeframe must receive submitted videos by February 1, The Awards The winning entry will receive: Official Rules $1,000 paid directly to the school s sponsoring teacher/department and $250 to each of the student team member(s) up to four. The Fame Winning entry will be showcased online at and at the WRWA Annual Technical Conference on March 29 April 1, 2016 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Judging WRWA staff and Awards Committee will conduct judging. Entries will be judged on creativity, effective communication, quality of execution and compliance with contest rules. The Winners Winners will be notified by phone by March 4, Only the winners will be notified. The Awards Event Winning students and sponsoring teachers will be invited to attend the WRWA Annual Conference on March 30, 2016 for an awards presentation. Please make video in a format we can use in a DVD player & be able to upload the video to YouTube. Submitting Your up to 45 Second Video Each entry must be reviewed and approved by a teacher representing the school department that, if the entry is judged as a winner, will receive the $1,000 award.
