2 The statutry duties f a trustee are: T always act in the best interests f the Charity aviding any ptential cnflicts f interest T ensure the rganisatin cmplies with its gverning dcument - smetimes knwn as a trust deed, cnstitutin, r articles f assciatin. T ensure that the rganisatin pursues its bjectives as defined in its gverning dcument. T ensure the rganisatin applies its resurces exclusively in pursuance f its bjectives - the charity must nt spend mney n activities which are nt included in its wn bjectives, n matter hw 'charitable' and 'wrthwhile' thse activities are. T cntribute actively t the Bard f Trustees' rle in giving firm strategic directin t the rganisatin, setting verall plicy, defining gals and setting targets and evaluating perfrmance against agreed targets. T safeguard the gd name and values f the rganisatin. T ensure the effective and efficient administratin f the rganisatin. T ensure the financial stability f the rganisatin. T prtect and manage the prperty f the rganisatin and t ensure the prper investment f the rganisatin's funds. If the rganisatin emplys staff, t appint the Chief Executive Officer and mnitr his r her perfrmance. In additin with ther trustees t hld the charity in trust fr current and future beneficiaries by: Ensuring that the charity has a clear visin, missin and strategic directin and is fcused n achieving these. Being respnsible fr the perfrmance f the charity and fr its crprate behaviur; ensuring that the charity cmplies with all legal and regulatry requirements. Acting as guardians f the charity s assets, bth tangible and intangible, taking all due care ver their security, deplyment and prper applicatin. Ensuring that the charity s gvernance is f the highest pssible standard. As well as the varius statutry duties, any trustee shuld make full use f any specific skills, knwledge r experience t help the bard make gd decisins and, if pssible, are encuraged t develp an interest r cnnectin with ne f Break s service departments The abve list f duties is indicative nly and nt exhaustive. The Bard f Trustees are jintly and severally respnsible fr the verall gvernance and strategic directin f the charity, its financial health, the prbity f its activities and develping the rganisatin s aims, bjectives and gals in accrdance with the gverning dcument, legal and regulatry guidelines. All trustees, shuld als be aware f, and understand, their individual and cllective respnsibilities, and shuld nt be verly reliant n ne r mre individual trustees in any particular aspect f the gvernance f the charity.
