MEETING MINUTES OF A Regular Meeting of the Richmond Board of Education was held on Tuesday,, in the Richmond High School Media Center, Division, Richmond, MI CALL TO ORDER: President, Margaret Teltow called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 2. Bourdeau, D. Michon 5. APPROVE AGENDA Moved by member A. Oderkirk and supported by B. Smith to approve the agenda as amended. (Added item 11d Art Trip to New York) Voice Vote: All Ayes

2 Page 2 of 5 6. TRUE BLUE MOMENT A. Teacher of the Year Recognitions: The following teachers were recognized by the board. They were honored at the Macomb County Teacher of the Year dinner and awards ceremony on April 16, Mike Murphy High School (Also won Macomb County award) Kyle Bartels Middle School Autumn Walters Lee School B. MI HEARTSafe School Award Randy Gillary of the Kimberly Anne Gillary Foundation presented the MI HEARTSafe School award to Richmond High School. Randy is an important partner in our efforts to prevent Sudden Cardiac Death of the Young (SCDY) in Michigan. Randy was the first person to conceptualize the MI HEARTSafe School award and is well recognized at the state and national level for his team s amazing efforts. C. Top Ten High School Students The Board of Education presented the top ten high school students with an award: Benjamin Evans Sara Campbell Beau Brockett Megan Bishop Allison Schweiger Beth Beindit Nicole Ward Xavier Nuckles Jacob Schmidt Carolyn Schweiger

3 Page 3 of 5 7. PRESENTATIONS A. One-to-One Technology A. Birkmeier B Budget Discussion B. Walmsley 8. LEGISLATIVE UPDATE Mr. Walmsley briefed the audience on the latest legislative updates. We are waiting on the final budget from Lansing. He urged everyone to contact their local legislators whose names can be found on our website. 9. ITEMS OF INTEREST FROM THE BOARD OF EDUCATION Traci Bartell voiced concerns about the Detroit Public School Debt Andrew Oderkirk commented on the success of the recent SpringFest 10. PUBLIC COMMENT No public comments were made. 11. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS A. Resolution #2 for MISD Budget Voice Vote: Moved by member D. Hill and supported by Member J. Theut to approve the designation of Margaret Teltow as the representative of this Board for the MISD Biennial Election meeting and electoral body, and Traci Bartell as an alternate in the event the designated representative is unable to attend, which body will elect one (1) candidate to the vacancy on the MISD Board on Monday, June 1, The designated representative is directed to cast a vote on behalf of this Board for Theresa Genest. The Secretary of this Board is directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Secretary of the MISD Board prior to the June 1, 2015 MISD Biennial Election meeting. All resolutions and parts of resolutions insofar as they conflict with the provisions of this resolution are rescinded.

Furtaw to accept the Superintendent s recommendation and approve the Best Practices Incentive Resolution as presented. C. One-to-One Technology Moved by member A. Oderkirk and supported by Member D. Hill to accept the Superintendent s recommendation and approve the purchase of one-thousand five hundred sixty three (1563) HP probook 440 G2 Notebooks from Sehi Computer Products, Inc. for a total not to exceed $819, for which funding from the 2013 voter-approved bond is authorized as presented in the attached documentation. D. High School Art Trip to New York Moved by member T. Bartell and supported by Member D. Hill to accept the Superintendent s recommendation and approve up to $ for Veronica Belf to use for the art students who will be attending the art competition awards ceremonies in New York City on June 10-14, As part of this motion, I direct that Mr. Walmsley meets with Mrs. Belf to go over her budget and needs for the trip so that all monetary needs are met and in order.

5 Page 5 of CLOSED SESSION STUDENT DISCIPLINE HEARING Voice Vote: Moved by member A. Oderkirk and supported by D. Hill to move to closed session at 9:35 p.m. Returned to open session at 10:25 p.m. Moved by member T. Bartell and supported by Member A. Oderkirk to suspend student for the remainder of the school year. If the student returns to Richmond High School for the school year and violates the student code of conduct, student will be immediately expelled from Richmond Community Schools. 13. ADJOURNMENT Margaret Teltow concluded the meeting and adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
