1 Findings from Carers Survey March

2 Introduction The and surveys provided additional information on carers and the services they received. The information forms the baseline for a time series to show whether or not these services have improved carers ability to care and live a life outside this role. The need to take into account the impact on carers of the provision and quality of services provided to service users is also important. The survey aims to collect information about carers experiences of social care services and support, and will feed into monitoring of the impact of the national carers strategy. Methodology Carers eligible for inclusion in the survey are: those carers aged 18 or over and are helping or looking after someone aged 18 or over and who have been assessed or reviewed, either separately or jointly with the cared for person by social services during the past 12 months prior to the sample being extracted The questionnaire contains 27 core questions with additional questions included that were designed to capture some specific areas of interest to Derby City Council. A total of 842 people received a postal questionnaire in October 2014; there were 356 responses received. This equates to a 42% response rate providing the required confidence levels specified in the guidance. There is a minimum requirement that the survey should achieve a margin of error around their results of no more than +/-5%. 2
