3 Directors Welcome The domestic utility market lies in turbulent times as the Swiss power industry was, and will be, further liberalised. Decision makers have to analyse opportunities carefully and anticipate threats arising from the new competitive market environment and diminishing territorial monopolies. Effective managerial decision making requires knowledge of the market and the application of up-to-date management tools. For some time, the international institute of management in technology (iimt) has monitored economic, political and social developments in the power industry. The iimt remains convinced that with the extensive experience and knowledge of its teaching staff, it can offer strong support to the leaders and decision-makers facing current change in this industry. Originally grounded in the liberalised telecommunication market, the iimt has accumulated a broad and long experience in knowledge transfer for liberalised network based markets. For this reason, our Executive Programmes are highly rated by both the academic and professional worlds. Well-known partners within the utility market ensure that our Executive Programmes include an appropriate mix of theory and practical implementation. We are certain that your time at the iimt will be a rich experience in terms of personal and professional growth and are looking forward to welcoming you into the growing iimt network of friends, professionals, partners and educators. Stephanie Teufel Director 3
4 International Competence Center The iimt Experience The international institute of management in technology (iimt) was founded in 1995 and is part of the University of Fribourg. Its programmes combine the most recent theoretical management concepts with practical understanding of international utility, giving insights into widely different cultures and attitudes while enabling conditions in other utility markets to be understood and evaluated. Objectives and Commitment The iimt s commitment is to prepare participants for high-level management careers in an increasingly global utility environment. The iimt Executive Programmes blend the experience and expertise of an innovative teaching team in developing participants leadership qualities in both domestic and international business.
