How to Get Rid of Ear Infections (650) Hinckley Road, Suite 110 Burlingame, CA
What is an Ear Infection? Otitis externa inflammation of the outer ear canal, often after swimming. For prevention dry out inside the ears or put a few drops of alcohol. Otitis media inflammation of the inner ear, behind an ear drum
Why it Happens? Eustachian tube connects middle ear to the cavity behind the nose. The tube opens to equalize pressure and release fluids from the ear and closes to prevent liquids from the nasal cavity entering the ear. When Eustachian tube opens and closes improperly, fluids from the nose and throat enter the inner ear, but cannot leave. This causes pressure on the eardrum; it bulges outside and may burst.
Symptoms of an Internal Ear Infection (Otitis Media) in Children Tiredness, fussiness Pulling at the ears Pain in the ear Stopped ears If an eardrum ruptures there is a discharge from the ears A child may or may not run a fever
From American Academy of Pediatrics: Between 7 and 20 children must be treated with antibiotics for 1 child to derive benefit. By 24 hours, 61% of children have decreased symptoms whether they receive placebo or antibiotics. By 7 days, approximately 75% of children have resolution of symptoms without the use of antibiotics.
From Amareican Academy of Pediatrics: Pediatricians may use an "observation option" for acute otitis media. They may defer antibiotic treatment for 48 to 72 hours and limit management to symptomatic relief.
Antibiotics Use Ask your pediatrician for the observation option. Try homeopathic remedies for a few days. You child may avoid using antibiotics.
Danger Signs of Ear Infections Mastoiditis infection of the bone area behind the ear Redness, tenderness, pain, and swelling behind the ear Meningitis Persistent headache Stiff neck Vomiting Marked change of moods If you observe those symptoms, see your health care provider immediately!
Serous Otitis Media This is the most common complication of the middle ear infection. Accumulation of a translucent noninfectious fluid in the middle ear. Causes hearing loss. Homeopathic constitutional care is very effective. Conventional treatment ear tube surgery.
Ear Infections in Children A tendency to ear infections in a child points to an imbalance in the immune system A child with more than 2 ear infections in one year will benefit from a constitutional homeopathic care.
Strengthening Your Child s Immune System Healthy Diet Supplements (Cod liver oil or fish oil) Probiotics (especially after antibiotics use) Constitutional homeopathic care
Vitamin C Echinacea Ear Drops Supplements for Ear Infections
Vitamin C Take only during the time of illness Toddlers 1-3 years old can take 500 mg per day Children older than 3 can take 500 mg twice a day
Echinacea Stimulates white blood cell production Use special preparations for children. Avoid other herbs in you Echinacea preparation Use only when your child is sick, do not use continuously
Ear Drops Never use ear drops when there is a rupture of the eardrum (you will see a discharge from the ear). You may use warmed up olive oil drops Or you can buy Kid s Ear Drops with the Mullein oil, garlic oil and olive oil.
What is Homeopathy? Homeopathy is a branch of medicine that uses minute doses of natural substances to stimulate the body to heal itself. Homeopathy is Safe for all ages Does not have side effects Efficient in acute and chronic diseases
Acute Condition Comes up suddenly Has intense symptoms Goes away in a relatively short period of time Acute conditions are easy to treat at home
Chronic Condition Comes up gradually Symptoms usually build up gradually and slowly Never goes away on its own Can be healed by a constitutional homeopathic care
Recurrent Acute Conditions Recurrent acute diseases are caused by a chronic imbalance in the immune system Recurrent acute condition points to the weakness of the immune system. Recurrent ear infections may stop after a constitutional homeopathic care
Homeopathic Law of Similars A substance that creates symptoms in a healthy person will cure a sick person with similar symptoms. For example, a remedy made from a red onion (Allium Cepa) heals symptoms similar to what happens when cutting an onion.
How to Find a Correct Homeopathic Remedy? Observe the symptoms Match the remedy to the symptoms
What Symptoms to Observe? Physical symptoms (earache, fever, sore throat, etc.) What makes them better/worse? When are the symptoms better/worse? Emotional state (anxious, capricious, etc.) Food/drink craving Perspiration Peculiar symptoms
