2 Safety Glasses Required in all areas of the production facility Hearing Protection Required in all areas of the production facility Gloves When dealing with chemicals, rubber gloves, protective clothing, full face mask may be required

3 Back Support In positions requiring lifting, belts not required but available upon request to help support the back while lifting Wrist Supports In certain positions on the line, wrist supports not required but available upon request

4 All mechanics, compounders required to wear hard hats without exception Any employee entering front and back compounding room must wear a hard hat Hard hats colors to be worn as follows: White Full-Time employees Blue Temporary employees Red Visitors

5 Signs posted in areas requiring hard hat usage Hard hats must be worn by compounders, mechanics when performing work related activities Hard hats shall be worn over the hair net Hard hats shall not be defaced or altered in any manner or painted all or in part

6 Employees may not put any decals or stickers on hard hats Hard hats shall be kept clean and inspected daily for cracks, breakage, frayed straps and all other potential indication of harborage or extraneous material contamination Hard hats shall be stored and in a manner that provides protection from potential contaminates

7 Often many hazards in your work area Be aware of these hazards, so FFI can take appropriate steps to protect employees, visitors Most hazards can be combated by following established safety rules, using PPE Know where PPE is kept, how to put it on and how it works

8 Cloth gloves protect your hands against minor physical hazards, like dirt, splinters, abrasions Use in light labor jobs Leather, aluminized gloves guard against sparks and metal flakes Can protect against moderate heat

9 Rubber gloves protect against several types of hazards such as electric shocks, acids, other chemicals Plastic gloves protect against corrosives, other chemicals

10 Slips, trips, falls often can be prevented with appropriate safety shoes

11 Non-slip soles for different conditions Soft rubber soles: Dry surfaces Hard rubber soles: Greasy concrete or wood Synthetic rubber or compounder soles: Usable on most surface conditions

12 Tread design also can be important Deep cuts in the tread channel off water Deep cuts provide better traction on rough surfaces Finer tread designs may give best traction on smooth surfaces

13 Eyes are complex, fragile organs Need protection in many workplace environments Safety glasses used in many situations Most models: Have shatter-resistant lenses Protect you from flying particles Can add side shields for further protection

16 Ear plugs come in two forms: Disposable Reusable Disposable plugs convenient to use and work well when you need to temporary protection from noise, dirt

17 Proper use: Maximum protection Knead plug into a tight, cylinder shape Insert slowly into ear canal Hold in place as it expands (forms to ear contour) Remember, disposable plugs are designed to be thrown away after use can lose ability to seat ear canal after long term use

18 Different types of hearing protection have different advantages Reusable plugs can be pre-molded or custom made (shaped for your ear) Reusable plugs usually fitted on headbands or strings, easy to use with other Personal Protective Equipment

19 Canal caps have a spring-like band between plugs Provides constant pressure, keeps plugs seated snugly in ears Canal caps can be inserted, removed quickly

20 Often thought to provide best protection possible. They: Use cushions filled with foam, liquid or air to block out sound Good for dusty, dirty environments Works well for short-term, temporary protection Can be easily combined with ear plugs for maximum protection in noisy environments

21 All Personal Protective Equipment should be checked periodically for fit, condition This includes looking for damage such as: Wear and tear Scratches in eyewear

22 Important to correctly clean, store your Personal Protective Equipment Wash all equipment after use Disinfect ear plugs when necessary Place equipment in a box or other container Store the equipment in a safe, dry place

23 It is especially important to keep your Personal Protective Equipment working well If you have a broken tool, it may cause you to miss a deadline If your PPE isn t functioning properly, it could cost your life!
