11 Waterbury District Highlights 3,324 grade 3-8 students scored proficient or above on ALL CMT content areas in grade 10 students scored proficient or above on ALL CAPT content areas in The number of college-bound sophomores taking the PSAT in 2013 was 711, up 5% from 2010 The number of college-bound seniors taking the SAT in 2013 was 529, up 9% from 2009 Critical reading and writing average scores on the SAT in 2013 were up 7 points and 6 points respectively, from 2009, contrary to national trends which displayed 3 and 4 point declines The number of AP exams taken in 2013 was 737, up 30% from 2009

18 BACKGROUND OF SURVEY With permission from Waterbury Board of Education, BTS has surveyed youth every three years since 2007: Spring 2007 (gr 6 & 9), 2010 (gr 6, 9 & 12), 2013 (gr 6-10) Survey results have helped identify priority areas for the community s work with youth of all ages included in the BTS cradle to career plan Each survey administration provides an updated snapshot of the youth in our community
