2 WHY USE AN EYE CREAM? The skin is made up of 3 layers: The epidermis: The layer which we can see and touch and which our skincare products work on The dermis: The layer which contains glands, follicles, proteins and fibres The hypodermis: The fatty innermost layer of the skin The delicate skin on our lips and around our eyes is much thinner than the rest of the skin on our face. Because of this it contains less collagen, elastin and hair follicles than skin elsewhere on our bodies. WHY DOES THIS MATTER? Collagen is a natural protein found in the dermis. It keeps skin firm and supple and acts like a foundation to help keep the skin plump. With age and depletion of collagen levels, skin starts to sag, allowing lines and wrinkles to form. Elastin is a fibre found in the dermis. It is similar to collagen, but more elastic and stretchable. It allows the skin to stretch, expand and contract without tearing. It tends to deplete as you age, causing the skin to sag and look stretched. Sebaceous glands are also found within the dermis. These secrete an oil called sebum, which travels up through the hair follicle and out through the pores of the face, to help lock moisture in the skin s epidermis. Sebum keeps the skin supple and prevents it from drying out. The skin around our eyes has no hair follicles, so cannot produce sebum and keep itself moisturised. Therefore, as we age, the skin around our eyes is one of the first areas to show signs of ageing. Fine lines appear, the skin starts to sag and becomes drier. It s important to use products specifically designed for the eye contour to keep this delicate skin moisturised, smooth and bright. The Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Eye Cream-Gel combines 3 precious seed oils with caffeine and light reflecting particles to revitalise the eye contours and visibly reduces signs of ageing. 4 HOW DO I USE IT? - POWER OF 3 EYE REGIME 1 Ensure the eye area is clean and free from make-up residue by sweeping Camomile Gentle Eye Make-up Remover over the eyes with a cotton pad. Then cleanse, tone and prepare the rest of the face with an essence lotion (avoiding the eye area). 2 Next apply the Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate in a figure of 8 motion around the eye contour, and pat with your ring fingers to help the product absorb. This product will instantly refresh the eye contour, and smooth out the appearance of lines, bags and fatigue as the first step towards younger-looking eyes. 3 Lightly pat the Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Eye Cream-Gel around the eye contour and orbital bone. The formula will melt effortlessly into the skin, preventing you from pulling too much at the skin around the eye.
