1 To: Business Editors Date: 24 March 2016 GREAT WALL MOTOR S 2015 SALES VOLUME HIT A RECORD HIGH OF APPROXIMATELY 850,000 UNITS, TOTAL OPERATING REVENUE AMOUNTED TO RMB76 BILLION Great Wall Motor Company Limited ( Great Wall Motor or the Company, H share stock code: 2333, A share stock code: , together with its subsidiaries, the Group ) reported a year-on-year growth of per cent in its audited total operating revenue to RMB76,033,142, prepared in accordance with China Accounting Standards for Business Enterprises for the year ended 31 December 2015 (the Year ). Net profit attributable to shareholders of the Company was RMB8,059,332, Basic earnings per share were RMB0.88. The Group was able to achieve stable growth in total operating revenue for the Year by stimulating growth in overall sales through constant launch of new products, adopting proactive marketing strategies, and continued improvement in after-sales services. During the Year, the Group s gross profit reached RMB19,162,217,283.47, and gross profit margin stood at per cent. The board of directors of Great Wall Motor recommends the payment of a final dividend of RMB0.19 (tax inclusive) per share for the year ended 31 December 2015 (2014: RMB0.80 (tax inclusive) per share). Commenting on the operating environment of the PRC s automobile industry, Mr Wei Jian Jun, Chairman of Great Wall Motor, said: The automobile industry experienced ups and downs in The industry looked promising at the beginning of the Year. However, the sales volume in the automobile industry began to decline since the second quarter. The PRC government timely introduced the preferential policy that halved the purchase tax on low-emission passenger vehicles with engines of 1.6 litres and under, which had positive impact on the domestic automobile industry and led to a gradual increase in the sales volume in the sector. During the Year, the Group s total sales volume of automobiles was approximately 850,000 units, representing a year-on-year increase of per cent, which surpassed the industry growth rate. The increase in the sales volume of automobiles was mainly due to the Group s optimisation of product mix, continual focus on SUV category, manufacture of high price-performance products, and commitment to gain the satisfaction of customers. Revenue from sale of automobiles rose by per cent year-on-year to RMB72,859,187, (2014: RMB59,345,501,289.71). The sales volume of pick-up trucks, SUVs and sedans was 100,739 units, 693,346 units and 51,799 units respectively. The Group also sold a total of 388 units of other vehicles. During the Year, Great Wall Motor achieved outstanding performance in the SUV market. With a steady year-on-year growth of per cent in sales volume, the Group secured the No. 1 position in the PRC s SUV market in terms of sales volume. Due to strong demand, the sales volume of the Group s flagship product Haval H6 maintained a notable growth momentum, with a per cent year-on-year increase 1

2 in sales volume to 376,911 units. Haval H6 remained as the best-selling SUV model by sales volume for 33 months since its debut. Haval H2, a small SUV launched last year, became a popular car model and reported satisfactory sales volume. During the Year, Haval H2 was among the top 10 best-selling SUVs by sales volume. Haval H8, which was relaunched this year, and the brand new model Haval H6 Coupe also contributed to the increase in sales volume, thereby further consolidating the Group s leading position in the SUV market. With respect to sedans, the Group launched facelift models to maintain sales volume. The Group s pick-up trucks continued to rank first in the PRC pick-up truck market in terms of sales volume for 18 consecutive years, thus consolidating its leading market position. On the aspect of new products, the Group launched its first coupe-style SUV model Haval H6 Coupe, which boasted a sporty coupe look and lavish technical configuration. The new product not only provided more choices for consumers, but also signified the introduction of a formidable product under the Haval brand in the urban SUV market. The launch of Haval H6 (sporty version) and Haval H2 with 6-speed automatic transmission would further boost the sales volume of these two popular models. In addition, the Group s super deluxe SUV model Haval H8, after undergoing an upgrade programme for over a year, was launched during 2015 Shanghai International Automobile Exhibition. At the same time, the Group also displayed several SUV models and two concept cars Concept R (red label) and Concept B (blue label) for the first time.to showcase its research and development prowess, the Group also put on display five powertrains, a four-wheel drive chassis for a smart new-energy car using hybrid power, and Internet of Cars technology, reflecting the Group s strong research and development prowess. Following the commencement of operation of the Company s new Haval Technology Centre in 2015, the Group s technological development and testing capability improved. The Group has now set up a technology research and development centre in Japan, and additional research centres will be established in other overseas countries in the future so as to achieve globalisation of research and development. The Company s sales volume target for 2016 is 950,000 units. The Group will achieve the annual sales volume target by adopting strategies including continued improvement in product quality, launch of new models and facelift models, as well as development of the domestic and overseas markets, etc. In 2016, the Group will launch a brand new Haval H7 and blue label models for existing Haval H2 and Haval H6 to enrich the existing product lines through the introduction of new features. With respect to new energy vehicles, the Group will launch a pure electric notchback sedan model in The Group will not target the pure electric sedan only at the private sector consumption, the Group will also actively explore businesses in government and business vehicles, urban taxis, car rental, etc. On the aspect of pick-up trucks, the Group will upgrade and develop facelifts for existing models in order to meet customers needs. The second production base in the Group s automobile plant in Xushui, Baoding is expected to commence operation in the first half of 2016, which will further lift the Company s production capacity. Various types of Haval models and successive products will be produced at the Xushui plant. The Group s future high-end car models 2

3 will be produced and tested at the intelligent Xushui plant, thereby ensuring the improvement of product quality. In addition, the Group s plant in Tula Oblast, Russia commenced construction in 2015, and is expected to be completed and to commence production in Due to significant fluctuations in the capital market during the second half of 2015, the Company s stock price had moved to a level lower than the base issue price stipulated in the Proposal on the Non-Public Issuance of A Shares (Revised). To maintain healthy and stable development of the capital market and to safeguard the interests of small and medium shareholders, the board of directors of Great Wall Motor considered and approved the termination of the Proposal on the Non-Public Issuance of A Shares of Great Wall Motor Company Limited, which is subject to the consideration and approval by shareholders at the 2015 annual general meeting. The Company will continue to invest in such projects with its own funds. The Company will consider to raise funds through various financing methods in case of insufficiency of own funds, in order to ensure the project will progress smoothly and business will be developed as scheduled. Looking ahead, Mr Wei added: Consumption structure upgrade and first-time car buyers replacement demand will support the SUV segment to maintain a relatively high growth rate. The preferential policy on purchase tax launched in 2015 is expected to continue to help the automobile industry to achieve stable growth. The Group will focus on strengthening the development of SUV models, enriching its product line, and further improvement in product quality, in order to maintain SUV competitiveness. Meanwhile, the Group will also develop new energy products so as to meet customers needs.
